Here at Tierra Prometida Alpacas, we are thrilled to have Snowmass Touche' in our herdsire line-up. We have been looking for a long time for a males who can geneticallly and phenotypically complement our herd.
We were looking for a male that we could breed to our Elite White females and to our colored production females. In essence, we were looking for a male with Elite Fleece Characteristics--especially with his combination of Density, Fineness, Brightness, and excellent staple formation.

He is the PERFECT MALE to fit our needs! He is INCREDIBLY DENSE exquisitely FINE and has one of the most advanced fleeces with remarkable consistency from head to toe. And he is a compact and typey male who has correct conformation and bite.

Snowmass Touche is truly one of the finest, densest, elite white fleece studs out of the Snowmass Breeding program. He was designed to go over both Elite white and Color production Dams. He has a very unique genetic line up which includes the superior line of Snowmass Maree Love --the Dam to Snowmass QUECHUA and Snowmass INVINCIBLE, Touche's Sire.
The unique and white Elite element to Touche is his Dam, Snowmass Olay--she is the only Sollocota - Allianza line with her fineness in the Snowmass herd.

Here at Tierra Prometida Alpacas, we have had some of our best cria out of this male and it is no surprise when you consider his EPD's One of the characteristics that he transmits the most effectively is STRUCTURE.

In addition to evaluating and validating his conformation and fleece in the show ring, we have done histograms on his fleeces every year. We also did a skin biopsy on him this spring and at 7 years of age, not only has his fleece been amazing in the past, but the current traits he is exhibiting are still remarkable. AND his EPD's demonstrate that he will consistently and reliably pass those traits on to his offspring.

Tierra Prometida’s “Snowmass Touche” was biopsied as a 7 year old white huacaya male with ARI#30408753. His 15X scan demonstrates large fiber clusters very uniform in size and placement. This trait was likely passed from his dam. His density is 76.75 follicles SQ MM of skin and his average S/P ratio based on 25 fiber clusters is 12.0 to 1.

TP Matrix Jubilee is a son of the renowned Snowmass Matrix and Tierra Prometida's finest fleeced female, Valedar's Parfait--who at 11 years of age and overweight has a micron of 19 still! In fact she is in the top 1% of EPD's for AFD (tenth in the nation), Spin Fineness ( 19th), %F>30m, mean curvature and SDMC!!!
He is Dense. He is Fine. He has a beautiful, fine, silky fleece with bundles, brightness, long staples, and a well-defined high frequency crimp. His fineness persists as has his dam's and as has his sire, Snowmass Matrix. Every one of his dam’s (Valedar's Parfait) offspring has EPD''s for fineness in the top 1-3%.
As the U.S. alpaca industry matures and advances, breeding decisions are being governed more by the objectivity of science and less by the hype of marketing. Fiber measurement, Estimated Progeny Differences and skin biopsy study all give us insights that can only narrow breeding decision making. All of these facts are available in predicting TP Matrix Jubilee's worth as a stud male.

SKIN BIOPSY
“Tierra Prometida’s Matrix Jubilee” was biopsied as a 28 month old white beige male with ARI#31725064. He is marked incorrectly on his 15x scan picture as well as density scan picture as a female rather than a male. I can redo at a later date. His 15X scan shows large fiber clusters mostly uniform in shape and placement. His true density is a freakish 107.73 follicles SQ MM of skin and his S/P ratio is 12.6 to 1. Note his high level 4 of 4 gland presence as the grey areas on the S/P and 250X scans. I would expect brightness of his fibers and this level of gland presence seems to be a strongly passed male genetic trait. 100 secondary fibers average 13.9 microns while 50 primary fibers average 17.4 microns for a spread of only 3.5 microns

Jubilee’s 2014 EPD’s place him in the top 1% for 4 traits.

Jubilee is conformationally beautiful and is extremely typey and compact. In addition, he carries a fleece that is stunning! His strong EPD's from both his dam and his sire are rock solid and predict that he will be able to project these fleece characteristics to his offpring in a reliable and predictable way.

All alpacas are not created equally....TP Matrix Jubilee is living proof and the science says so!

TP Touche's Zephora is a wonderful example of the superb quality of Snowmass Touche's genetics blending with those of our Caligula Accoyo Poseidon daughters and grand daughters. WOW! Both of these herd sires are supremely dense. Both of them have persisting fineness as adult breeding males with low CV's, low SD's, and a low percentage of fibers > 30. Caligula's Accoyo Poseidon generallly has fewer guard fibers/ primaries while Snowmass Touche' has greater overall fineness and brightness. This combination has proven to be successful in reliably producing stunning offspring with gorgeous fleece characteristics that consistently hit the mark for the gamut of elite fleece qualities for which we are all striving.

Zephora is a sweet, beautiful young female whose pedigree and genetics reflect 20 years of planned, refined breeding decisions by our ranch.

She has wonderful conformation with great substance of bone and the beautiful fleece that you would expect from her pedigree. She has superb density and fineness with an outstanding fleece.

Her skin biopsy:

. Her 15X scan shows that most fiber clusters are uniform in shape and placement within her connective tissue. Her true density measures 86.24 follicles SQ MM of skin and 25 typical fiber clusters show an average S/P of 11.9 to 1. She grades level 4 of 4 gland presence and near 40% of her secondary fibers show a level of medullation. 100 secondary fibers average 20.3 microns while 50 typical primary fibers average 27.7 microns for a spread of 7.4 microns. These stats figure an AFD of 20.9

She is currently acting as a recipient for CCNF Flora X TP Val d'Isere's Criterium.
