Lease 3 females with breedings (2 already bred)--keep 4 crias!

Lease 3 females--2 are proven Moms--for a breeding cycle, and until the crias are weaned (or for 2 years, whichever happens sooner). Sorpressa is due with a cria by our fawn El Nino son, Accoyo America Hawkeye--you keep the cria, due in the fall, and get a breed-back as well! Sinchi Sumac is bred to AOBA champion and Futurity Reserve Champion Saber's Red Storm Rising for a cria in sring,2013. We suggest breeding Q'oricancha to our multiple blue ribbon winning Quechua Radiance or to our champion, SoCal Saladin's Pisco.

Here's how it works: You lease the 3 girls (two suris and one huacaya), and choose the herdsire from among our available males. Sorpressa can breed to any of the wonderful herdsires owned by Alpacas of Marin. Now, you keep this "mini herd" until they each deliver and the crias are weaned--ideally around 18 months but it certainly could be 2 years. At the end of that period, you return the dams to us and keep the crias. We will even add a "lease to own" clause and offer each female to purchase at a discount (with a breed back) for $1000 each. The lease comes with a live cria guarantee.


Now, let's see...You get 4 crias (Sorpressa can be rebred after her cria is born in fall, 2012)--that comes to $300/per cria--not bad! And this is a great chance for a beginner to see if you like the alpaca ranching lifestyle because at the end of the lease period, the dams are returned to us!

Why are we doing this crazy thing? Well, we agist our animals at Derwydd Alpacas, near Sacramento, CA with Dale and Jan Davis. It turns out, we have TOO MANY FEMALES!! So, until we move up to our ranch property in a few years, to take care of our own herd, we need to "lighten the load"--ie, our agistment.
