Why are you raising alpacas? Fiber? Show? Either way

When you open his fleece - on him OR in the bag - you will just say, 'WOW"!

With this boy there is NO tradeoff between fineness and density: he's got both!! Super dense AND super fine. The staple formation is in tight little bundles, with high amplitude/high frequency crimp, the 'stamped in' crimp that feels like 'speed bumps'. The greasy, 'well-nourished' feel to his fleece is what the judges are looking for. And so bright he looks like he is glowing.

The rest of him looks pretty good, too! His conformation is correct, with balanced proportions, a smooth topline, strong body, and heavy bone, He has an athletic and proud way of carrying himself.

Sire - Maple Brook Bolero is earning a name for himself as a sire of ultra-fine fleeced alpacas with lasting fineness. Bred, owned, and shown by small farms, his offspring are winning Championships - not just as 'babies', but at age 3 and over!!!

Dam - Iomega looks like her legendary sire, Camilio. The heavy bone, loads of fiber on her head and legs, the extreme density of her fleece, the typey head, and the correct, 'boxy' conformation are all trademarks of the Camilio line; traits that made him one of the most successful sires of show ring winners in his day.

Just think what this combination of ultra-fine and ultra-typey could do for your breeding program!

We plan to keep his little brother, and have bred Iomega back to Bolero for 2012. That tells you how much faith we have in this genetic combination.

- Green Mountain, class of 12, Judge: Jill MacLeod
In spite of 'first show jitters', and a hot, humid stall area,
Incandescent held his own in a big class of very competitive
white yearling males. Stay tunned - the best is yet to come!
