This girl is another of our proudly reared fine-fleeced females. Her dam sadly was the only alpaca ever to die on our property, she had PEM, and died less than a month after Betty's birth. So, Betty and her buddy Teddy B were raised as bottle babies for six months. She and her buddy are very friendly and come to you when called. She is out of our ATV Rockerfeller, who has 4Peruvian Legacy, 6Peruvian Accoyo Elite, and Peruvian Don Julio in his background. Her dam, Bettina, was out of Artero, a Studmaster, out of Hemingway's Mister Antonio, and Accoyo Pachacuti, also a Studmaster.
Betty has15.1 micron fleece, with an SD of 4.2, and a CofV of 27.9% She has 0.9 % fibers greater than 30 microns, and has a curvature of 42 degrees. Since all of her ancestors were endowed with lingering fineness, any crias that she may have should be outstanding.
ARI has just published the percentile rankings for huacayas for each trait. This testing involved suris and huacayas in the U.S. involving around 40,000 alpacas. Betty tested out at first place or the top 1% in the country for her AFD, her spin fineness, her percentage over 30 microns, and between the 1st and 2nd percentile for her curvature, her medulation, and her MSL. She tested in the top four percent for SDFD and fleece weight. These are outrageous EPDs, coming from her dam,Bettina, and our top herdsire, ATV Rockerfeller. Rockerfeller is throwing top EPDs with the females of our herd! We are going to be taking some of his cria to the Futurity this next year if we can.
