Hearty Chilean import genetics!

MFI Cadence

Huacaya, Female, Non-Breeder, Dark Silver Grey, Full Chilean
ARI# 819332 | DOB: 5/24/2000

Cadence is the very proud matriarch of Landmark Farm! One of our first foundation dams out of two Chilean imports, we have retired her from making babies. She has earned it at 18 years old!

Cadence is a sweet girl with a mischievous streak! She can be quite the character and is a wonderful guard alpaca, sometimes taking on a watch station along side our livestock guardian dog. Visitors love her huge doe eyes and can't decide if her right eye looks like she has smudged makeup, or if she...

My Peruvian Equador

Huacaya, Male, Proven, Light Fawn, Full Peruvian
ARI# 817854 | DOB: 2/21/2000
For those who need the scientific stats provided by skin biopsy to back up the claim of lingering fineness, here they are!

In June 2012, we had then 12-year-old My Peruvian Equador evaluated by Dr. Norm Evans, who states that "Equador's strong fiber traits are his fiber density, cluster regularity, S/P ratio, gland density, and fineness. He shows few fibers over 30 microns. This male is loaded with prepotent male genetic fiber traits that have been associated with champions. Consider breedin...

Description

Aramantha is one of two girls on our farm with the West Coast genetics of the 2005 AOBA National Grey Color Champion, Emerald Farm's Rincon Cloud. Rincon comes from a champion grey lineage, sired by Crescent Moon's Rayo Del Sol, and grandson of Patagonia's Danko. Aramantha's dam is our Chilean foundation matriarch, dark silver grey, MFI Cadence.

Aramantha is a lovely grey girl with very correct confirmation. Her color is a very even medium silver grey, with an adorable black heart on the left side of her back! She is actually a bluish grey, which always brings compliments from our shearer. Each year, with the first sweep of his shears, he always comments "Oh, what a GORGEOUS color!"

Aramantha was a wild child when she was born. What a pistol! We are happy to report that motherhood has slowed her down a bit, but she still holds the title of farm busy body and her nickname is Whacky Packy! She will have her nose in whatever you are doing!

Aramantha's crias are small mooses when they are born! Her first was 20.1 pounds, her second 19.2 pounds, and her third was 23.5 pounds!

Aramantha milks like a Jersey cow! She probably could, and would, nurse two if we ever needed her to. When her second cria was just days old, while nursing, a second same-age boy would sneak up under her to steal snacks from the other milk bar in the barn, and she would let him!

Aramantha's third cria, Appalachian Blue, has been sold to Granite Alpaca Company and will begin his career as a young herdsire! Her first-born, Smudged in Black, a gorgeous dark silver grey fiber male, has been sold to Pendle Alpacas! When bred well, Aramantha is a reliable producer of some beautiful alpacas!

Update: Aramantha was re-bred to My Peruvian Equador because we love what these two produce together. She had a positive ultrasound and should be due early November 2018.

Awards Received:
Because Aramantha was agisted when she was born to us, and because of bio-security concerns, she has never been shown.
