Our Herd is Growing

It's been almost a year since we brought home our full Peruvian boys and by week's end we'll have five more beautiful Alpacas to add to Pen Cuckoo's Alpaca Farm. Two of the five are Dark Fawn Females. The females are both bred and will be due by the end of June and August. The crias sires are a Medium Rose Grey and a Light Fawn. The remaining three of our five newest are young jr. herdsires. Two are True Black and one is a Light Fawn. My excitement is peaking as this week draws closer to the weekend when I'll see the new Herd all together.

The week came to an end and our additions were delivered safely. The girls have settled in nicely and one of the boys, the Light Fawn has been in with our other boys from day 2. It's like the other two fawn boys I have knew he was a Fawn also. The True Black males are still hanging with the girls and they are getting along nicely. Tonight my daughter and I put halters on the boys and let them experience the feel of them with a light lead. We'll continue to halter train them and handle them daily so they will become comfortable with leading and the human touch.
