Shearing went off without a hitch. We started at 9 and were finished and all cleaned up by 5. It was overcast and cool for most of the day finally around 3 the sun came out and it warmed up. It was funny to watch them when they were all sheared. They started running, kicking up their heels almost like they felt a new freedom. Now they all look like little babies. I got the garden planted with the cool weather crop. Lettuce, spinache, radishes, carrots, snap peas and got the trenches ready for my potatoes. Need to wait a little longer for them and the onions. Of course all the other stuff. Can't plant that untill the last full moon in May.
Gotta go do chores..

The garden has been tilled and ready for planting. We just need to put some hot wire around it to keep the dogs out. I will be planting the cool weather things i.e. lettuce, radishes, carrots, snap peas. I'm sure I am forgetting to mention something. The flower beds are pretty much done. I have put composted manure in all them, turned them over, they are awaiting mulch. We have been getting prepared for shearing tomorrow. That should be a very long day. Hopefully it is nice and warm for the alpacas
We are talking about putting on a new deck off the back of the house. We have one now, but is not looking it's best...I am having a tough time deciding what I want. That will all have to wait till after tomorrow, too much to do right now.

Well Happy Easter everyone.
Two days ago Wayne and I went shopping and bought a new tiller. Our other one is a front tine tiller and I have been using it for years. My darling husband got sick of seeing this thing toss me around and decided he would buy "me" a new one ( a cub cadet rear tine, to match the mower). She sure is a beauty and I couldn't wait to try her out yesterday. When I ever lifted my head off the pillow and saw all that snow flying around, I put the covers over my head and stayed there. The snow stuck too, we had an inch on our deck rails. UUUGGGHHH!!!
Today is supposed to be a nice/warm day. When we get back from Easter brunch from my brother and sister-in-law's I plan on turning up some dirt. I can't wait I've been told she is the cadillac of tillers.
I haven't taken a picture of it yet, when I do I will post it.
Have a Happy Easter.

Well they were right, 50s today. It's nice to see the sunshine. Things are thawing out some, Wayne was able to pick up quite a few "bean piles" left over from the winter. Another job done. Well that job is never done. Let's just catching up.
We have three mini donkeys and a guard llama also. The donkeys aren't too mini. They are a year and a half and we can't breed them untill they are three.
Wayne ordered our laying chicks a couple of weeks ago, they will be here the first of June. 12 brown layers and 6 chicks that will lay blue and green eggs. Guess we'll have to sell some. We couldn't possibly eat all them.

Well I have never blogged before, so I will try my hand at it. Have my doubts anyone will ever read it, but here goes. Today is a horrible day, snow blowing in the air all day and the wind is crazy strong. The alpacas like the cooler weather, but aren't too cracked up over the wind. We will have them sheared next Sat. Hope it warms up for them. Weatherman is claiming it's going to be in the 50's tomorrow, I will believe it when I see it.
