The Imagine Alpacas! Story
We are a small farm in the quiet village of Jeffersonville, New York in Sullivan County. We concentrate on breeding for confirmation and color. In the last show we attended, we sent three pacas and came home with three ribbons
(2 Blue!!! and one yellow).
So...how does a registered nurse and an electrician who were born and bred in NYC grow up to be alpaca farmers? We discovered a new way of life. One so different - so new and exciting that we fell totally in love...again!
Imagine Alpacas! is a small farm in the quiet town of Jeffersonville, New York not far from Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center, the home of the original Woodstock concert in 1969. We are in the Catskill Mountains of Sullivan County. Here we are developing high end, quality alpacas, mostly in the darker color ranges of brown, black and grey.
During a wonderful weekend in Sullivan County at a lovely B&B, we visited an alpaca farm near Bethel Woods - "down the road a piece" from the Woodstock Concert site. Ed spoke to the owner while I "shopped" at their luxurious products store.
We have learned that these curious animals get sheared once a year and produce better than cashmere fiber. Spinners and knitters as well as designers like Eileen Fisher have experienced this wonderful fleece and have found a myriad of ways to utilize it.
Just Imagine! Alpaca fleece that is hypoallergenic, warmer than wool and softer than cashmere; fiber for your family and home with eco-friendly products.
Now Imagine! Alpaca products joining other natural fibers such as vegetable, bamboo, seed, leaf, fruit and stalk fibers for clothing, rugs, etc.
Imagine! Alpacas by learning how you and your family can help our planet for generations to come.
Imagine! Alpacas... American... Born and bred right here on our farms.
Imagine! Alpacas are gentle animals. Simply fed with the best grain and hay. Bred with labors of love and they return to us a lifestyle of opportunities.
Imagine! Alpacas can be experienced by visiting our farm. Please call for available times for you! You won’t be able to resist our newest cria (baby alpaca), Mr. Kite, born In September,2010.
Warning: You'll fall in love!
