Yes, it's still all about the animals! I've been in the NW and an alpaca breeder for 4 years now. I am still not adjusted to the weather here but love being near Mt. Rainier with winter and summer hikes. As for alpacas I am still enchanted by them. Nothing is more joyful than watching the new cria pronk in the pastures. These animals ground me and I'm forever grateful to them for that.My farm has grown from 4 females. I'm small but happy that way. I still love sitting in pasture with them and seeing their faces from my kitchen window. It brings a big smile and whoops of cheer to them.I love all aspect of animal care. The birthing process has always left me at awe. Training is always interesting with each different personality; these smart animals are a joy to work with. Health care is important and always an interesting aspect of alpaca care. I appreciate my new skills at animal husbandry. Even poop scooping has a meditative quality about it that I do not mind. I would rather be out doors hanging with the animals any day than inside on the computer. So my daughter, April helps out with the business end of my Business. She does the computer work I avoid, sadly, but she is a blessing to me. But then she loves each new cria when it arrives and does her share of loving them and teaching them.I concentrate on healthy, happy, well trained animals. I bought great genetics from the start and have bred up ever since. I like strong boned animals, with great fiber and easy going personalities. This is a great business for those who love being around animals with character, while building up a new fiber industry here in the US. Alpaca fiber is "to die for" because of it's quality and what it brings to other fibers.I am still learning about fiber and animals but loving all of it in the process.Waylla Marka Suri AlpacaCreate Your Badge
