Our EPD program is now showing its breeding influence in the showring by Colusa Riverside Alpacas with two firsts and a color champion at IAO in 2013, two seconds, 4th and reserve color champ at the California Classic.

Now that we have HEMINGWAY'S BOGART our EPDs are unmatched in the Industry. Our herdsires will produce offspring with the largest reduction of AFD over more than 99.9 % of all the 18,000 alpacas EPD tested by ARI.

Colusa Riverside Alpaca Ranch is proud to offer alpacas with some of the most outstanding Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs) for fiber fineness in the nation. Our herdsires are in the top 1% of all alpacas for reducing AFD tested by the Alpaca Registry Inc. We have been working hard over the past 4 years to selectively breed and purchase alpacas to achieve the level of EPDs we can now offer our customers. EPDs will predict fiber trait outcomes in your offspring. EPDs are the gold standard of all livestock industries, their use in the alpaca industry will soon become the gold standard. Our herdsire BLUEGRASS PERUVIAN PROPHECY’S EPDs are among the most elite herdsires of the industry. Prophecy’s father, ACCOYO AMERICA APOCALYPSE “is ranked as the #1 white herdsire in the ARI-EPD program- that will produce offspring with the largest reduction of AFD while increasing the most FLEECE WEIGHT”. Prophecy will produce offspring with some of the greatest offspring fleece reductions in AFD. More importantly, Prophecy will improve UNIFORMITY OF AFD across the entire fleece of his offspring. Prophecy is one of only sixty four herdsires in the nation to produce offspring with this kind of uniformity of AFD.

Dave Scroggins is a past Board Director of California Alpaca Breeders Association. Sheila has a special interest in researching and publishing information on health and illness in the alpaca. Sheila is a contributing author for the Camelid Quarterly and Alpaca Magazine. She is Professor of Nursing for Yuba College, and presently is the Director of Nursing. We offer 6 month payment plans for breeding fees. With sufficient credit rating we offer one to three year term contracts with a 20% down payment in some sales agreements. We offer zero percent interest and equal monthy payments for some sales agreements.
