Alpacas of Foster Knoll

Welcome to Alpacas of Foster Knoll, home of Clay and Rhonda Foster's Alpaca Farm. We are located in beautiful Hanover County, Virginia a short drive west of Ashland Virginia. Our small alpaca farm was started in April 2008 with three beautiful female and one handsome and stately male Haucaya. We began our adventure into the unique word of alpaca farming by selecting quality animals with great bloodlines and outstanding fiber. The quality and confirmation in our animals can be recognized at a glance and one of our goals is to pass these characteristics’ on to your herd. October 2008 brought the birth of the first three cria to the beginnings of our quality herd. Our goal has and always will be to breed with quality animals with the primary focus on helping the industry produce the highest quality animals with fiber and confirmation that you would be proud to have on your farm.

We purchased our home and property in Montpelier in 2005. The house was new but the farm needed some work and through our lengthy research we knew that starting an Alpaca farm could have some great tax advantages. My husband and I share a love for animals so once we had spent many hours and months researching alpacas, visiting several farms and becoming acquainted with the alpaca personality we decided that raising these unique animals really seemed to be an enjoyable venture. So, off to rebuild the fencing and barns we went, doing all the work ourselves preparing for the arrival of the creatures we have come to love. We spent a lot of time and effort trying to find an investment that would take the property that we just purchased and in the long haul make a little money while providing us with a wonderful bonding experience with some wonderful creatures. We had discovered Alpacas. The Alpacas seem to be the perfect fit for our lifestyle and personal goals. We have enjoyed the Alpaca lifestyle ever since.
