UPDATE..5/1/13, Bio Secure Shearing came early this year and I coudn't be more happy with the outcome of my herd's Fleece Production...17 Bags of Fleece weighing in at almost 50 pounds for just 11 Camelids.
My Herdsire Pierre, Full Peruvian, his fleece weighed in at over 8.5 pounds. It's a Rich Chocolate blend with grey fibers throughout. It's Gorgeous, its Dense and oh So Soft. 2nd in the running is my Proven Female Dark Fawn Polly. Her blanket weighed in at over 7 pounds, Yes, 7 pounds and it's Gorgeous Fleece also. So Fine and So Soft. I couldn't be happier with this Female. Not only does Polly produce me some Beautiful Cria, her fleece continues to improve too. I am one happy Alpaca Farmer tonight!!!!
Pen Cuckoo Alpacas is a smaller farm consisting of Full Accoyo, Full Peruvian and Peruvian/Chilean bloodlines. Each of these Alpacas has their own personality and each of them offer something special from their fleece. With Lineage from MFI Legendary, Accoyo Bentley, PPeruvian Caligula, Duke of Wakeman and the Gorgeous Rose Grey Nehushtan, not only does our Huacaya Herd continue to Improve, our Fleece continues to Improve too. Every day I am in the barn or the pasture hanging and handling my herd. And, it does make a difference in their dispositions. I've been to some farms where you couldn't get near the Alpaca. That is not the kind of Alpaca I want on my farm. So, I choose to spend as much time with the herd as I can to keep them as healthy, and friendly as possible.
Excellent Bloodlines to Excel the Breedings, Excellent Conformation, and Excellent Fleece Qualities that's what Pen Cuckoo Alpacas is all about and of course Shearing season. Let's face it, the Fleece is Important. Pen Cuckoo's herd produces some really great fleece and all of the important fleece factors are proven once shearing season is complete.
Once the fiber is returned from the mill, our Fawn, Dark Fawn, Dark Brown, Black and Beige color fiber palet provides the knitter or crocheter a nice assortment of Super Soft Yarn. I do not have it blended. It's all 100% Pen Cuckoo Alpacas and, it's Awesome!
