WELCOME to EDELWEISS ALPACAS, LLC

Spring is here! That means several springtime activities with our alpacas, to which you are invited. One is the Great Western Alpaca Show in the National Western Stock Show Complex in Denver May 3-5, 2013. Two short weeks after that is the Nationals Alpaca Show, also in Denver. The public is welcome to come, free of charge, to both of these nationally renowned shows and meet many alpaca owners and breeders from around the country, as well as a variety of alpacas and alpaca products. Next on our agenda is shearing on May 30th. The public is welcome to come observe the annual harvesting of the exquisite luxury fleece of the alpacas. In June is the Estes Park Wool Market; we will have some awesome skirted fleeces available for the fiber artists as well as batting, rovings, and yarns. We have farm tours Fridays through Mondays by appointment this summer of 2013.

Welcome to Edelweiss Alpacas website! We are thrilled to have you visit and become acquainted with the beautiful and charming alpacas that have become our life and our joy.

Edelweiss Alpacas, LLC began in 2009 with the purchase of one pregnant female. By the end of the year, we had one healthy female cria, and had also acquired 5 other alpacas, 2 males and 3 females. We've been learning and growing ever since and have a herd of 19. We exist to breed exceptional quality alpacas for the alpaca industry, and animals with outstanding fleece for the fashion and textile industry. We also sell annually harvested fleeces or processed fleece products such as rovings, battings, rug yarn, and skeins of yarn to the public. Our farm store carries a variety of handmade and commercially-made alpaca finished products as well, such as sweaters, scarves, caps, rugs, hats, and woven goods. We provide agisting (boarding) services to other alpaca owners and we provide educational opportunities about owning, raising and caring for alpacas. Various fiber artists come to teach the fiber arts in which they specialize.

In 20013, we're wanting to help kids learn about alpacas through 4-H clubs. We will teach youth about alpaca care, their fleece, and the business aspects of raising alpacas. Youth don't have to own their own alpaca, they can "rent an alpaca" for a nominal fee from our farm and we will teach at our farm. Contact us if you are interested in alpaca 4-H projects or check out the 4-H website at http://www.colorado4h.org/.

We are close to I-25 and all the Front Range communities of northern Colorado, making it convenient for you to visit our farm and store or agist (board) your animals with us. We are eager to meet you and share our love of the amazing and charming alpacas.

We have recently acquired 2 Akbash puppies, Cassidy and Sundance, that are working as Livestock Guard Dogs. They are really getting the hang of protecting their herd.
