Welcome to GlimmerGlass Alpacas!
Located in the heart of central New York just 7 miles from Cooperstown, GlimmerGlass Alpacas has been raising alpacas and creating unique fiber products from their fiber since 1996.
Our alpacas, both suri and huacaya, have been selected and bred for their fiber attributes and their ability to pass these qualities to the next generation.
Please look around our farm and make sure you visit the store for a glimpse of some of our handcrafted products.

GlimmerGlass Alpacas was created in 1996 with the purchase of our first huacaya alpacas. I distinctly recall my husband saying to me - " you know, you can't have just one!" Sixteen years later, and with the addition of suris, our herd now numbers 47.
Our focus is the production of sound healthy alpacas with fleece characteristics that are valued both on a commercial level and on a cottage industry level. All products that we sell are either created directly from our fiber or yarn on the farm or have been produced in conjunction with a partner farm or cooperative. We have recently joined the Alpaca Blanket Project and look forward to being able to offer 100% alpaca throws made by Pendleton to our customers.
We are firmly committed to the continued development of the North American alpaca textile industry. We are also committed to our "grow local" imperative and find that alpaca and locally raised, locally processed and locally marketed yarns and products fit in very well. Our farmers' market customers love to know that the yarn they are buying was created from the fleece of alpacas just 7 miles away!
We are firmly committed to our customers. Each alpaca we sell is sold with reproductive and health guarantees. Each customer also receives the benefit of our 16 years of alpaca experience as well as our extensive knowledge of alpaca fiber. We know what makes good alpacas and we know how to make good alpaca yarn!
