We have selectively bred our Alpacas with focus on Sustained Fineness and Uniformity. Our alpacas incorporate genetics from a wide variety of elite bloodlines including Hemingway, Bueno, Royal Fawn, Dom Lucillio, Legacy, Augusto, Snowmass Millenium, MFI Brock, and Mr. President. We are very proud to offer at stud our Hemingway son, MSA Hemingway's Bogart, selected for his his remarkable, and extremely rare, combination of uniform, crimpy, BABY fine fleece and flawless conformation sustained thus far into his second decade. He passes all this to his cria, as well. Bogart truly has it all. We encourage you to examine him, his covered dams, and his offspring if you are interested in adding Bogart's qualities to your breeding strategy. In addition to Bogart, we were very fortunate to secure the services for two years of Misty Ridge Altair's Samaurai, one of the premier brown herdsires in the US. Interested in EPDs? These numbers indicate not just the qualities of the individual animal, but more importantly in a breeding operation, EPDs indicate the ABILITY TO PASS those qualities to their offspring.
Interested in Fineness? Bogart's 2012 EPD for Average Fiber Diameter is -2.469. Only 3 other huacaya studs in the ARI data base have comparable EPDs for fineness, and ONLY Bogie has KEPT this EPD into his second decade.
Interested in Uniformity? Bogart's 2012 EPD for %>30u is -10.56. Only 2 other huacaya studs in the ARI data base are in this range; only Bogie and one other stud have KEPT this EPD into their second decade.
Interested in crimp? Bogart's 2012 EPD for Mean Curvature is +5.56. Only 5 other huacaya studs in the ARI data base are in this range, and ONLY Bogart has KEPT this EPD into his second decade.
The way to select a stud is to 1) choose a stud that demonstrates the qualities you desire, 2) make sure that stud can pass those desirable traits on to his offspring, and 3) maximize the likelihood that your stud, as well as his offspring, will KEEP those good qualities through a long productive lifetime.
