How it all started...
North bound for home at 40,000 feet I came across an AOBA ad. It read “Worlds greatest livestock Investment.” I tore it out to give to my wife, girlfriend at the time, when I got home. She pulled it up on the web and instantly fell in love with the critter that appeared before her and knew right then “It feels right.”

Alpaca friends,
As many of you know, Benchmark Alpacas has been on a bit of a boy run the last few years. If you attended any shows with us in 2008, you may have seen our two newest additions. We are very proud of them.
Of course I am not talking alpacas, our new additions are from Ukraine and we just returned home with them last year. Bill and I proudly introduce you to our sons, Daniel and Mark Wood. As you can guess, things in Goodrich just got a whole lot more interesting.
We have always agreed with the thought that raising kids on a farm would be very rewarding for all. Hard work and pitching in can be both fun and worthwhile. The farm provides great lessons about life and responsibility. Once again, it feels right.
One thing that doesn’t fit is the time required for a herd of 150 along with the needs of a young family. Hiring more help is an option, but that means less hands on for me. I am a hands on girl; so instead, we have decided to reduce our herd to allow for more family fun while still giving our animals the attention they deserve.
Our production sale offers many of the alpacas that have helped take Benchmark where it is today. They have the proven ability to produce outstanding offspring and will be an asset to any breeding program. We hope you find our Alpacas, pricing and financing options favorable.
We have mixed emotions about letting our animals go. Many of them are farm favorites that will be truly missed. Mixed emotions aside, we are confident that a smaller herd is the right decision for the farm and our two big additions.
