We are located 20 minutes west of Milwaukee, Wisconsin on a 68-acre farm we purchased in 1997. While researching properties, we also researched the livestock we wanted to raise, and our research led to alpacas.
We read every publication we could find from 1997 to 2005 relating to alpacas; articles, books, internet sites, seminars, lectures, presentations, and agricultural publications. We visited over 150 alpaca farms across the United States and attended over 35 shows.
We made our first purchase in 2005 while Marge was in China on business, and agisted our first year until our alpaca quarters were complete. Alpaca arrival revealed we were book smart and animal husbandry poor. With no livestock or husbandry experience we learned alpacas are the right choice while building experience. Good mentors in the community, an excellent veterinary, and a little common sense we thrived, as did our alpacas as we built experience every year.
Each year we build knowledge about care, nutrition, feeding, evaluation, breeding, selections, fencing, structures, and management. As we learn and apply our extensive research, we share, such as EVALUATE TO EXCELLENCE, a simple hands on method to evaluate alpacas geared toward individuals who feel they are Evaluation Challenged. NUTRITION Verses FEEDING to understand the difference, and develop good nutrition plans for your herd.
Alpaca owners humble us with their willingness to share experience and knowledge. To that end, we approach our business with the generosity of spirit by simplifying information and develop tools to assist application.
