On the home page there is a misspelling in the Welcome box. The word "inquiries" should begin with the letter "i" and not "e" to the best of my knowledge. Does anybody else agree?

Hi Suzie,

Interestingly, we've probably had more comments on the use of "enquiry" vs. "inquiry" than almost any other single topic. In the use of English globally, "enquiry" means an informal request for information, whereas "inquiry" is a formal investigation. However, in the U.S. "inquiry" is generally used for both scenarios. Since Openherd serves both the U.S. and Canadian market and Canadians generally use British English, we opted to distinguish the "i" from the "e". But it's really not a big deal to us. So if there is a consensus about it, we may just abandon the "e"!

If there are any Canadians out there that would like to comment on this, that would be a welcome perspective!

Hi Joe - Debbie here from Alberta, Canada. I don't think Canadians will have any problem with changing enquiries to inquiries. Personally, I am impressed that you were looking for input from Canada - thank you for looking for our input!

It's been a while since the last post but the official Openherd update is that "enquiry," by popular demand, has been replaced with "inquiry". If you find an "enquiry" lurking around the site, let us know!
