I am fairly new to the alpaca industry-March 2009. Last year we supplemented with an oral vitamin A & D that we purchased from a local alpaca farm...we only had two female alpacas at the time so they were willing to let us purchase the small amount we needed from them. I am confused on whether to use the injectable form or liquid/paste, what the dose would be, and the best place to purchase. We were also told that we would only need to supplement our females. Is this true? Any input or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Dianea-
You may have already found the answer you were looking for. We've done both, and personally prefer the paste. We injectible is not only a thick serum, but based on our experience needs to be given with some caution. The paste has been so much easier to use, and is MUCH easier to use through the winter. We paste all crias (after 6 weeks), male and female every two weeks until they at least weaned but sometimes longer depending on time of year born and dark or light fleeced. Haven't had any side effects with the paste, but did have a questionable side effect of the injectible. We purchased through this website: https://www.llamaproducts.com/index.php?page=ProductDetails&rowid=6135
Hope this helps!
