Our Pennsylvania mountainside is perfect for alpacas . . . balmy
summers, green pastures, lots of sunshine and plenty of room to pronk!
We gets lots of snow too, and our fuzzy friends seem to enjoy it as
much as the Elk Mountain skiers across the valley.
Finca Alta Vista is our labor of love . . . a work in progress built
from the ground up with our alpacas' safety and comfort in mind. Barns
are designed for work efficiency and protection from extremes of wind
and temperature. Pastures are managed to prevent over-crowding and to
utilize natural parasite control techniques. Fencing is specially
constructed to provide maximum protection from predators. Our goal is a
stress-free environment because happy alpacas make healthy alpacas . . .
and healthy alpacas produce the best fleece.
The heart of our breeding operation is the Maternity Barn which
accommodates moms and crias in a natural herd setting. This barn also
welcomes visiting females for year-round breeding appointments with our
blue-ribbon and champion herdsires. From the computerized
record-keeping system and on-site laboratory to our state-of-the-art
reproductive diagnostic service, we have invested in the best tools of
the trade.
