Sandollar Alpacas moved in September, 2012 to the top of a hill in beautiful and rural Southeast Kennewick near the base of the Horse Heaven Hills. The newly finished store, The Felted Alpaca, stocked with an incredible array of yarns, roving, wearing apparel, accessories, equipent and other items, re-opened on National Alpaca Farm Days (NAFD) weekend which is always held the last weekend in September. Today the store is open Wednesday through Saturday from 1-4pm, or at other times by appointment. Our new address is 190605 E. 47th Avenue at Oak Street. Take 27th Avenue east to Oak Street; turn south and go 20 blocks to 47th Avenue; turn right to the farm.
Sandollar Alpacas opened its country mercantile farm store in 2007 to the public and has never looked back. Today, visitors can browse a unique assortment of items created from SA's own locally grown, luxurious alpaca fleeces as well as those products imported from some of the finest manufacturers in Peru.
In 2010 we introduced our Extreme Warth sock line which includes a double soled alpaca sock designed for extreme temperatures; it is suitable for skiiers, fishermen and hunters, as well as those cold morning treks out to the barn. In 2011, we introduced our Heirloom Luxury alpaca blankets. In 2012 we are introduced our custom knit alpaca hats with yarns from our own herd, and in 2013 we are introducing our hand painted yarns. We also stock a wonderful supply of the softest alpaca roving, fine yarns and bump yarns (for rugs) year round for all of your treasured projects.
We recently invested with two other partner farms, Uber Alpacas (Yakima, WA) and Tres Aguas Alpacas (Benton City, WA) in the new needle "Feltloom". We have plans to make all types of custom felted products for our customers and will start small with purses, laptop bags, cell phone cases, etc. and move on into wearing apparel. And as the new year began, we took possession of our new automated felting roller machine...it takes the drudgery out of wet felting!
In addition to these wonderful alpaca products, Collins Griffith is an extremely talented leather and fiber artisan. An assortment of his hand tooled leather accessories is always on display, and orders are taken for custom designed products. In 2007 he introduced leather items with an alpaca motif and he now plans to embellish our felted designs with leather accents.
Today, you can find one of a kind, beautifully hand tooled sleeves for an insulated coffee mug (included); photo albums, director chairs, beverage coaster sets, and many more. Check out some of his products while you browse our website! And if you can dream it, Collins can make it! Call us today at 509-378-5833 and let us design something unique for you!
