Almar Farms Lei Lei Darling

Producer of champions

Almar Farms Lei Lei Darling

Huacaya, Female, Proven, White, 7/8 Peruvian
ARI# 30035946 | DOB: 6/30/2006
By 11 years of age, an alpaca needs to be judged based on the quality of its progeny. Luckily, Lei Lei passes that muster.

Although impressive in her own right -- stately, with extensive full leg coverage and good, square conformation -- coupled with excellent lasting fineness -- it is Lei Lei's offspring that set her apart. Her two sons, Ray of Invincible Sun and Eclipse of Invincible Sun, are both multiple champions in fleece. Each one displays outstanding fineness, with AFDs between 15 -...

Meet Ray. Ray is a pretty serious alpaca.

Ray's pedigree is a really nice blend of industry cornerstone powerhouse names, and some unusual, yet still excellent, animals. A son of Snowmass Invincible son, The Invincible Nathanial, his sire line consists of a tidy package of 100% impact sires and dams; every single import on his sire's pedigree is an impact animal. From Snowmass Legacy Gold to Snowmass Maree Love on the topline to PPPeruvian Lilly and PPeruvian Elizabeth, these are animals whose names appear in the lineage of the top breeding animals of the industry.

It's Ray's dam, though, who sets him apart, genetically, from the rest of the elite pack. Lei Lei darling is a granddaughter of 6P Royal Gold, a lesser-used import who is in the top 1% of EPDs for reducing % medullation. Her dam line traces back to Felix, a top producing, yet lesser-used import sire who appears frequently in Harlequin pedigrees. She is, herself, a beautiful animal -- having also arrived on our farm along with her son -- with extreme lasting fineness.

The combination of Lei Lei and The Invincible Nathanial was obviously a hit, as Ray's only full brother is also a color champion. Ray has four fleece color championships to his credit, and it is easy to see why. His seventh fleece is still pretty darned elite, boasting an AFD of 19.1, SD of 4.1, CV of 20.1% and CF of 98%, with beautiful crimp, brightness, and good staple for his age -- a TRUE example of lasting elite fleece.

Structurally, Ray is a nicely built male, with excellent substance of bone, good conformation, a nice head, and full, ideal coverage. He is calm and easy to handle, and his reproductive development is excellent.

Biopsy results on this 8 y/o male show an above-average density of 72.3 follicles/sqmm (attached under "histogram." His biopsy statistics are not quite elite, but, coupled with the beautiful structure, brightness, and staple length that he has held onto, plus his excellent bone substance and frame, this is definitely a boy worth looking at.
