AutumnSun's Jet-Black Pearl

Huacaya, Female, Proven | Dark Silver Grey

AOA# 31990837   D.O.B. 10/1/2009, 3/4 Peruvian

Sire:
Spanish Peaks Victorian Gold
| AOA# 1426816  | Medium Brown
Victorian Gold has many desirable traits that benefit you. His fiber maintained its fineness and handle as he matured. His cria fleece was amazing -- with a high amplitude crimp, intense luster, good density, long staple length, and beautiful body coverage. Buttery soft with a warm shine and long staple as a yearling, his fleece continued to be a length and fineness that allowed us to use it for next-to-skin roving production well into his maturity.

Tory, as we call him, has a pedigree that couples his dam's Snowmass color program heritage with a solid Perurvian presence, including the fiber and color qualities inherited from his Pperuvian Pluro and Pperuvian Victor lineage. His dam Snowmass Victorian Glow is an alpaca with 'staying power' in fleece characteristics, and her Snowmass bloodlines definitely contributed to his amazing fiber. Familially, his brothers from his birth farm, 'Spanish Peaks Alpha Centauri' and 'Banderas,' were show-winning males that produced crias which continued to have outstanding fleece.

In addition to the fine density that Tory showed he could pass to his crias, he demonstrated also that he could push colors to his crias. His first cria, born in 2009, is a light fawn, crimpy, dense male out of our blue ribbon white girl Tiramisu. With coverage down to his toes, G.O. presented his soft & bright fiber well. Due to an injury as a cria, G.O. never had the opportunity to be shown in the ring. Tory's second cria in 2009 was a beautiful black girl out of dark brown dam, which we called AutumnSun's Jet-Black Pearl. She is fine, very bright, and soft with good crimp. True black for the first 3 years, she is now an even DSG across her blanket. She is currently in our foundation having produced our fantastic rose grey females Puzzle and Bliss and her 2016 LRG girl.

In 2010, Tory had a modern MRG male out of a MB dam. He is a soft, gentle, cute male with his teddy bear face! In 2011, Tory was the sire of a classic MRG girl out of a DSG dam; Spice shows the soft fiber that Tory passes on! In 2012, Tory had a TB boy from a TB dam. This boy was sweet and cute, with a teddy coverage on his head and legs, and very fine & shiny fiber. We lost him to a tragic freak accident as a weanling and we are sure he would have been a beautiful male, a black "Tory" in looks and fiber.

Reference listing as we have retired Tory from breeding.

Dam:
Alpaca Heights Midnight's Jetta
| AOA# 827444  | Dark Brown
Jetta has had three grey cria when bred to grey and two black cria when bred to white & fawn sires. As a dark colored full Peruvian dam that produces grey and dark crias, she is a great addition to a color breeding program.

With her full Peruvian heritage, extremely dark coloration, great conformation and coverage -- Jetta is an easy addition to your herd. Her crias have been typey in their looks, -- with excellent conformation, highly desired coverage and fine, shiny, crimpy fiber. She is an easy breeder / birther and confident with her crias.

Her price is very low because we need to move some alpacas. We intend to reduce head count this year, so make your offer before we make a deal to others.

And, we would be willing to trade Gabe, Jetta, Toule in any combination for a quality blue-ribbon silver grey herdsire or jr. herdsire. If you have an abundance of good grey genetics but need to offload a top boy due to relationships, this can be your deal! These dams have had black and/or grey cria before and would be good in black-grey program.

Jetta was bred to our pitch black Dark Secret to produce another fantastic black (another female?) cria in 2013.

Note: Her past farm said she produced less milk for her crias than they preferred; so they supplemented milk and gave plasma transfusions. But, Jetta was a BIG girl (12+ on a scale of 10) then. Open and at 205 lbs upon arrival at our farm, the transporter said she was the most overweight alpaca he had EVER seen. Her previous owner did not have the space to separate her alpacas during feedings. After controlling her feedings to bring her weight down, we were successful in having her nursing her last two crias for us.

Description

AutumnSun's Jet-Black Pearl has the genetics for a good addition to a black and grey breeding program. Pearl is a well grown female, boxy with solid bones, with a well-balanced frame. She is calm and easy-going, relaxed around people and guardian dogs. Her fleece has good density in good staple, and she has excellent coverage on her head and legs. Her fiber is glossy with a consistent medium amplitude crimp. In her maturity she shows the effects of being an excellent mom as her fleece is blown out. But, as a 2-year-old she had a soft lofty fleece that handled well. She has consistent white fibers throughout her black and intensifying at her chest, neck and legs. She clearly has a grey gene and is now an expressed modern dark silver grey -- despite her name.

For her first cria, by multiple champion male Snowmass Matrix Belvedere (now standing stud at Crescent Moon Ranch), had beautifully striking looks! Puzzle started as MB, but but like her mom she quickly turned a lovely MRG with white markings on her face and white fibers throughout her blanket.

Then, Pearl had a lovely dark brown girl, Blissful Burgundy, by our appaloosa herdsire Jacob that developed into a modern grey. Bliss matured quickly an became an excellent production dam in our herd.

In 2016, Pearl produced a lovely LRG girl sired by our MRG champion Longbow. This sweetheart has elegant looks. And, what a sweetheart! Ellycris is growing into a regal, graceful girl with distinct MRG fiber.

When bred to our champion AutumnSun's Black Maelstrom she proved a lovely fawn girl with black points (Orla) and then the next year, a beautiful true black girl (Cady) that we lost in our terrible winter. That was devastating as she was planned for auction.
