Description

Champion genetics, fineness and potential, with lingering fineness & crimp!

Jacob an excellent appaloosa herdsire. His personality is easy going and inquisitive, and he gets along great with other males. He has a fine, crimpy, and shiny fiber -- which fits well with our breeding program. His abundant spots are distinct, nicely sized, spread consistently across his blanket. This is why he remains an appaloosa has he ages rather than becoming a solid or harlequin grey as most leopard coats do. His fiber has a tight crimp structure that has maintained well as he matured. It is so soft, with uniformity of micron between his light and medium fawn areas. His coverage and regrowth in staple length is excellent.

When bred to solid dams he produced solid colors and greys, with a base coloration driven by the dam, with his excellent fiber characteristics.

When bred to appaloosa dams, Jacob has produced appy crias. Our fawn based appaloosa dam, Imitation, produced two beautiful look-alike girls with dark brown spots on a beige background.

Jacob is available for breedings, and he can be purchased by the right program.

Color Champion -- 2011 GWAS -- all ages in multi/indefinite (light/dark) males!
Great show! Great achievement! GWAS has traditionally been the largest alpaca show. Notable farms with fantastic animals regularly attend this Level 5 show. So, any ribbon at GWAS is a good ribbon, let alone the purple! On top of that, Jacob was 41 months old (that's almost 4 years old!) and proven at the time of this show!
1st - 2011 Mid-America Mature Multi Halter
1st - 2011 ABR FAll Festival Multi Fleece
1st - 2011 ABR Fall Festival Mature Multi Halter
---
4th - 2011 AOBA National Show -- Mike Safely. -- You know when you push just a little too far? Well, we did. We originally had Jacob in the composite class, since he already had so much fiber as was scheduled to be sheared. But, wanting competition, we switched him to halter. We shouldn't have, since his very long and heavy fleece was just tired by the time Nationals came around. Top that off with the mud baths and rain soaking he got the days before the show.... We put Jacob in a position where his wonderfully shiny, dense, long, and crimpy fiber wasn't given the justice it deserved! We've learned our lesson! We're not worried about Jacob, his show history speaks for itself!
2nd - 2012 TxOLAN - out of 4 -- Amanda VandenBosch. The blue went to an indefinite brown, a son of El Nino's Golden Legend, 2-YEARS(!) YOUNGER than Jacob. Reason? He was more fine..... but the judge commented that Jacob was fine for his age -- which was 51 months at this time! She also talked about his frame & size, and staple/density & the exceptional shear weight he will have! Not bad for a proven, breeding male twice the age of his competitors! What a great statement Jacob is for us, with his lingering fineness and denseness!

Jacob has fine fleece, with great staple and crimp -- year after year as he matures! His 2012 boy, Weston has a 14.1 micron fleece! (6/1/2013 AFD 14.1; SD 2.9; CV 20.8; %>30 0.4) This boy is a good fiber choice in a herdsire whether breeding for solid color or not!
