Mile High Bandimere

5x Champ, Breed Up? Bandmere prooved it AGAIN!

Mile High Bandimere

Huacaya, Herdsire (Male), Proven, White, Beige
ARI# 1280838 | DOB: 6/15/2006
The bread and butter of an alpaca farm is a strong white program and to achieve that you need a white male so exceptional that he can improve on the some of the finest fleece that a huacaya can possess. Our fawn herdsire, El Nino’s Golden Legend, has gotten a lot of attention at our farm, but we knew that our light color program would not have legs unless we had a white male that was Legend’s equal. This brought about the creation of Mile High Peruvian Bandimere. This is a male that we bred ...

Dam:
AutumnSun's Sweet Patriotic Song
| AOA# 31422710  | White  |
With glowing fleece and calm, easy-going personality, Song was born big (~22 lbs at birth and ~90 lbs at 9 mos) & grew at an amazing pace. She is well conformed, with a strong and straight frame even in her maturity. She has been a fantastic mom, just like her own mom and daughters. Song is the dam the you can build whole programs from, one that just keeps producing.

She has had predominately white crias for us but that is due to the way she was bred. Don't be fooled by this into thinking that she is a white production dam. Her first cria was a true black female sired by a dark brown male. Her dam also produced a dark brown male sired by a grey stud. Both her dam and sire have a lineage infused with color genetics. In fact, her sire produced dark brown and bay black when bred to color.

Song is worthy of praise as a production 'cornerstone' dam, so I will compliment her by praise of her progeny's exceptional traits. Regardless of color, her crias have all been desirable, some at champion levels in the show ring. They also have her spot-on confirmation, solid bones, and great coverage. Notably, her stud son Supermassive lives up to his name in conformation and coverage, as he was described by a judge as 'rooted to the ground'. Supermassive passed these traits -- in addition to an unusually long, decidedly crimpy, fiber -- to Superluminal. 'Luminal had so much fiber as a weanling that it threw off his 'boxy look' and one judge that awarded him high marks also said he would be much better once his (5 lb!) cria fleece was shorn off. Danica is another offspring that stood out from the crowd as a cria for her vitality as she literally ran around Song while learning how to nurse as newborn. Danica went on to win two banners against significant competition. Fresca, a light fawn girl from Song's daughter Aika produced fiber that was dense, crimpy and long but also so shiny that one's eye was drawn to it like to sunlight. Song's girl, Melody, went on to produce a spectacularly fleeced male, such that we kept her open for years while attempting to coordinate our timing with the stud's farm for another breeding. Eirwen, daughter of our champion black male Dark Secret is white but carries the black genetics with the same fantastic fiber and breeding potential.

Song, and her dam before her, have been well loved and well bred on our farm, truly producing a cornerstone in our herd.

Eirwen: 2018 (cria) 19.5 um / 5" staple; 2019 (1st) 20.1 um / 4.5"
Aika (LF): 2018 (4th fleece) 18.5 um / 3.5"
Fresca (LF g.daughter): 2018 (cria) 16.2 um / 5"
Danica (WH): 2016 (cria) 17.8 um / 5"; 2018 (2nd) 21.5 um / 4"
Tyson (DB 1/2 brother): 2016 (2nd) 20.8 um / 4"
Muster (WH g.son): 2017: 15.8 um / 4" in 8 mos growth; 2018 (1st): 17.9 um/ 4"
Supermassive (LF): 2014 (2nd): 21.1um / 3.5"
Superluminal (WH g.son): 2018 (cria): 16.3 um / 6"

Description

This male is rooted to the ground. In his maturity, you cannot see his toes in his tree trunk legs with massive coverage on heavy bones. This frame is extremely solid, well conformed, and easy moving. His crimp is still popping and consistent across his blanket. His micron is moving out as he works in our breeding program but his handle and staple are still great! All this fleece and body 'goodness' is topped with a sweet, calm, just-the-facts-m'am personality that makes him an awesome herdsire.... And, then take a look at the fiber of his offspring!

This poor boy didn't get enough love, figuratively and literally, on our farm. Though very nice, we always have so many good males that we keep on our relatively small farm and with our lean towards dark coloration, he often was left off the dance cards of the ladies.

We LOVED his boy Superluminal, so we repeated this breeding for another beige-white offspring but this time a GIRL!!! Imagine my excitement. Her name is Vanora and YES I am planning on breeding her to our BLACK herdsires once I get our genotype results to pick the best one. And, then, we can breed her to one of our brown, roan or fawn herdsires. The sky's the limit when you have nice white fiber and will accept any color offspring!

We also have him bred to our champion Provenance, who has produced beautifully fine, richly golden fawn offspring albeit males (boo). When they were weanlings, I KNEW they would pair nicely together and desperately wanted to complete that breeding. Now that I have, we have Supermassive available for sale simply because we are moving to all dark and closed farm so he would continue to not have enough work. So, we hope you will consider what he can do for you when paired right, because at this price he is a steal of a deal!

Awards

Reserve Champion - 2014 Great Western Alpaca Show, Light, Peter Kennedy -- over 46 other LF/Beige males!
1st - 2014 National Western Alpaca Halter Show - Med/Dark Yearling, SaraJane MacClennan
2nd - 2014 Great Western Alpaca Show, Light Fawn Yearling class (1st was the CC), Peter Kennedy
2nd - TxOLAN Spectacular Show, Medium Fawn Yearling, Cathy Merkley (to the class Color Champion from Rock Creek/Snowmass).
2nd - 2013 ABR Fall Festival, Light Fawn Yearling - Julio Sumar really liked this boy! With 13 in this class, this placing was very impressive. A well-known breeder said while looking at Super that he was the "most beautiful alpaca at the show."
2nd - 2013 GWAS (level 5), Medium Fawn Juvenile - Wade Gease: "1st and 2nd are close in comparison" "Explosive style...popping fleece" He praised Super's density, consistency of crimp structure. The judge said that when he saw Super walk in the ring he knew he was going to "compare the rest of the class to this one!"
3rd 2015 - Great Western Alpaca Show, Light Fawn, Kristin Buhrman -- behind an Accoyo America Polaris son and an Eclipse Alyst son
3rd - 2015 - Great Western Alpaca Show, Light Produce of Dam, for our Sweet Patriotic Song, standing with her half sister Melody
3rd - 2014 ABR Fall Festival, Kristin Buhrman. -- As a small show, the beige and light fawn colors were combined to the detriment of the light fawns and their often two colored fawn fibers (usually light fawns have lighter or darker primary fibers). The fawns all placed below the two beige animals, and Super was the 'fist placed light fawn'.
3rd - 2013 TxOLAN, Medium Fawn Juvenile - Tim Lavan: The judge said that the top three stood apart, with Super being the youngest in the class at 7 months old, and that Super should do "very well".
4th - 2013 MOPACA, Medium Fawn Juvenile - Wade Gease: The judge felt the fleece had a long staple but was more open and less dense.... I can say that the more than 100% humidity increase from our dry area to this wet area definitely flopped our alpacas' fiber that show. No one that has felt Super has accused him of being less dense.
