We bought this girl (she is "Amy" to us) for several reasons, not the least of which was the gorgeous sample of fleece we got from her previous owners; it displayed a lovely crimp, fine handle and unbelievable staple length. She is registered as a light fawn, but the bulk of her blanket fleece is really a light rose grey.
And beyond looking at the fiber, her pedigree was certainly nothing to sneeze at with the Chaccu grandsire and Bueno great grandsire. We had none of the Chaccu line on our farm and loved Amy's density. At the time we acquired her, she was bred to Onyx' Grey Navigator; take a look at the copy-cat daughter she produced from that breeding...simply beautiful! Amy took to mothering like a duck to water...she births easily, (which is amazing since she produces very large crias for her size,) has a great milk supply and wonderful protective instincts.
Amy is one of those very smart alpacas...sometimes we're sure she knows exactly what we are thinking.
Description
You can only imagine what we thought as we saw Symmetry coming into the world with white legs and a dark head...what is it??? And it took us forever to think of a name suitable for such a nice boy with the unusual coloration. Visitors to the farm would exclaim, "Look at his legs!" so for a long time we called him Legs, but we knew he needed something more refined. Finally, because both legs start the white at the same exact place, have small brown leggings over black feet and speckled brown knees, we decided he was essentially the definition of symmetry.
Sym has perfect conformation with a gorgeous head and beautiful dark eyes. His dense and luscious dark brown fleece sports lots of crimp and character...we are waiting for the histogram results of his first shearing.
The overall quality of this young male speaks of sound breeding...his paternal grandsire is Cahuide, and the three great grands are Snowmass Casanova, Chaccu, and Federal Express...not a bad line up of males. And let's not forget the females which include Picchucha and Condori!
Sym is well over 100 lbs. at just a year and enjoys romping with pen mates. He shows interest in the females, so we expect he will be breeding at a fairly early age.
We would love to send you a sample of his fleece if you are interested in this beautiful boy.
