Rincon's Aramantha

Huacaya, Female, Proven, Medium Silver Grey, Full Chilean
ARI# 31232456 | DOB: 12/18/2009

Aramantha is one of two girls on our farm with the West Coast genetics of the 2005 AOBA National Grey Color Champion, Emerald Farm's Rincon Cloud. Rincon comes from a champion grey lineage, sired by Crescent Moon's Rayo Del Sol, and grandson of Patagonia's Danko. Aramantha's dam is our Chilean foundation matriarch (now deceased), dark silver grey, MFI Cadence.

Aramantha is a lovely grey girl with very correct confirmation. Her color is a very even medium silver grey, with an adorable black...

Update: Smudge has moved to Pendle Alpacas with his buddy Speed Bump to start a fiber herd right here in Ashe County! His new farm will not be open to the public, but you can buy alpaca products made from his fleece at the Ashe County Farmer's Market, Etsy, and various festivals.

We have always jokingly said "that boy's not quite right" since the day he was born! He was born hyper and couldn't walk anywhere ... he bounced! He still can't walk in or out of a pasture gate. He bucks the whole way! He gets the 'fidgets' and does a great impression of a Mexican jumping bean! He wants to have his nose in everything that you are doing!

Smudge is absolutely full of himself and is quite a handful, but he is the funniest, silliest, and most entertaining alpaca on the farm! He has a HUGE personality! Even though he has been gelded, HE commands all the attention with all of his 'studding' and prancing around. He apparently doesn't realize that he is missing anything! He is always a hit with visitors and is probably in more photos giving kisses to cute little girls than any of our other alpacas!

Smudge is a lovely big fiber boy. His sire is the beautiful My Peruvian Best in Show, a medium fawn Jericho son crossed with the Royal Fawn line. Smudge was weaned at five months at 92 pounds! Since his fiber is not fine enough to meet our standards for a breeding male, we decided to geld him at two years of age.

Smudge's fleece is the most marvelous blend of dark to medium silver grey and black, with a little fawn and brown mixed in for interest. Local hand spinners had their eyes on it even before his first shearing! It spins up beautifully (see photo). His tips are very light, but he is much darker underneath, a true dark silver grey!

Plus, check out Smudge's "cover boy" photo when he was a cria, on the COVER of Alpacas Magazine Autumn 2013 issue!
