Long winter's project...

Long winter's project...

This retirement "thing" has it's perks. I have plenty of time to do the things that I have never had time to do before... Like enjoy the little moments with my 20+ year old llama and her favorite 17 lb. cat Brazil. From the photos you can see exactly why Brazil is that chubby! Suffice to say, all forms of vermin are safe here at Bluff Breeze Farm.

Since Rick has deemed me "unemployable", I'm going with that concept, and enjoying retirement to it's fullest. However, this winter has already been long and cold, with a staggering -28 degrees (that's below zero) with wind chills in excess of -40 degrees. My small herd of one llama, a few aging alpacas, and their boarded alpaca friends are enjoying a room with heated concrete floor. I can honestly say that I no longer worry about the herd and their comfort when I leave the barn. With such a small herd, they are seriously overfed (since I don't know how to feed only 13 alpacas) and they have plenty of room in a comfortable area. It's quite a change from tending more than 120 alpacas at any given time.

Come spring, we plan to start selling some of the excess equipment acquired over 20 years of raising alpacas. I don't know how it happened, but we accumulated 60 extra green panels, matching walk-thru gates, half panels, 65 3' goat grain feeders, and many other items that another small livestock breeder could appreciate (IgG testing equipment, fecal testing equipment, centrifuge, scales, all sizes of coats, etc. If you are looking for supplies and equipment at rummage sale prices, please give me a call (612) 308-6378. I have everything you might need to resupply your farm or get started from scratch.

Stay tuned and look for an announcement with specifics on items for sale.
