The Best of Intentions

Have you ever started something with the best of intentions, only to end up far short of what you intended? I certainly have! These blogs and this website are things that I have started with the best of intentions - I wanted to post a new blog every couple of weeks and to keep the website updated and interactive. Well, it's been a while since I wrote a new blog and I have scores of new babies to add to the website! I sure did get waylaid from my original plans! Oh well. I know these things read more...

Doing things the hard way

Very pregnant Ruth

Very pregnant Ruth

It has been a busy month on the farm! Time to play catch up on the news... A few weeks ago, I had an older ewe that I noticed was struggling to get up and down. She was moving slower in general but looked okay. She still had some energy and was eating. I thought maybe she was just showing her age and struggling a little more due to the cold weather. Mud season - in winter

This week has brought about a change on the farm - we have entered mud season. This fact would not be out of the ordinary, except that it is winter time in upstate New York and mud season is not supposed to happen until spring time. Due to some warmer-than-average temperatures and lots of rain, mud has come early to our farm. If you are a fellow farmer, those words will conjure up all sorts of images and feelings for you. Probably not very pleasant feelings and thoughts, but nonetheless, you read more...

Beginning

Bringing home Rose. She is gaining a fondness for crackers!

Bringing home Rose. She is gaining a fondness for crackers!

Beginnings... a word full of emotion. Maybe it is a heavy emotion, maybe it is an anticipation of good things to come. For me, in this instance, in reference to starting this website, it brings many emotions to the surface. Remembering how I got started with my Valais venture brings smiles and a little laugh when I remember bringing my first F1, Rose, home. My mom, niece and I drove to Ohio to pick her up. We used my mom's new-to-her Rogue for the trip. I put a giant dog kennel tray in the back read more...
