Xanadu EvenSong

Lady in Black

Xanadu EvenSong

HuacayaFemaleTrue Black
AOA# DOB: 6/3/200713 yrs
Evensong is a beautiful true black, with dense bright crimpy fleece and a very sweet personality. She is the daughter of the beautiful silver grey dam Patagonia’s Magenta and sire Strider, a true black male with density, crimp and character that represents outstanding uniform fleece. Evensong was bred to MFI Toledo, an exceptional silver grey. With the strong black and grey genetics our hope to have these characteristics passed on to her cria came true. We were blessed with the first female born at Chimera Ranch in Oct 2009, and we named her Chimera’s Tehya, which means precious, as she is very precious to us. We are still determining whether she will be true black like her mother or a d...
EastWind's Snowstorm

EastWind's Snowstorm

White
AOA# 848077
Dr. Sumar summed up this guy best as he awarded him his first blue: "Fineness, crimp, density, uniformity, coverage, excellent conformation, and a beautiful head. This alpaca is the total package." We had one of Snowstorm’s first offspring, our incredible Trueheart's Adagia who is now in our foundation herd. So when we spied the opportunity to purchase this spectacular male, we seized it. We’re proud to offer Snowstorm’s services in Colorado in partnership with Pamela Ray of Xanadu Farm Alpacas. He brings the genetics of Snowmaster, Hemingway, and El Moustachio and has shown a strong ability to pass the color of the dam, including black. He'll be standing in Colorado year around - sharing his time between Xanadu (Fall and Winter north of Denver) and Trueheart (Spring and Summer south of Denver). We're offering his first round of Colorado breedings at a below market price. Ask about our driveby discount!

SSF Happy Hour is currently bred to El Nino's Accoyo Michelangelo, who sold at the 2011 AOBA National Auction for $120k. We are truly hoping he will let SSF Happy Hour's True Black phenotype emerge in the 2012 cria. Happy Hour is wintering in Arizona and her cria will be born there... she will be back to Colorado in Apr/May timeframe. 29 Feb 2012; SSF Happy Hour delivers her baby girl cria; 14.5 lbs;...

El Nino's Accoyo Michelangelo

Light Fawn
AOA# 851708
We are very excited about the offspring hitting the ground from our full Accoyo beige son of El Nino (Caligula's best son), who had a 16.3 micron fleece at one year! Dr. Norman Evans did a skin biopsy in the fall of 2005, and according to his results, Michelangelo's density is absolutely unmatched (S/P Ratio of 13.28/1 and follicle density an amazing 107 follicles per sq/mm)! One of the softest AND densest fleeces I've ever had the pleasure to touch! Multiple champion and blue ribbon winner in fleece and halter! Michelangelo had confirmed pregnancies at 22 months, and to date has many healthy CHAMPION offspring on the ground (including ROSE GREY, SILVER GREY, medium brown, light fawn, beige and white! His offspring took blues in both juvenile white male AND female classes at AOBA Nationals, and a grey took a blue at the Futurity! Judge Kevin O'Leary commented that a white Michelangelo offspring he judged at AOBA had "the finest fleece he'd had in his ring all day! Herdsire discounts from SSF do not apply to Michelangelo breedings. We will begin booking a few limited outside breedings for 2008.

Dundee's Etta of Adrenalin

Daughter of Champions

Dundee's Etta of Adrenalin

HuacayaFemaleLight Fawn
AOA# DOB: 9/20/200713 yrs
We were looking to add a bred female to our herd to round out our foundation. In reviewing the fleece samples we had acquired we recalled one sample where we had not actually been able to put our hands on the alpaca as she was on her maiden breeding voyage. We made plans to revisit Sara Jane and Hugh Maclennan at Dundee Farms and take a look at Etta. We are so thankful that we did. Just one look tells you that this daughter of champions is a solid, stunning young female. She is structurally solid, perfect bite, proportions, dense bones, and straight legs. When you put your hands in her light fawn fleece you have to admire its length and the palpable architecture throughout. What ...

She also is carrying some of the NEWEST genetics in North America from the Australian Jolimont herd - one of the best in Australia. Wolf Den's Dark Secret

Wolf Den's Dark Secret

True Black
AOA# 31620901
It's no secret that this true black herdsire is an all-around package that you will want to cover any dam, light or dark colored! Secret is so black -- with no fading at his tips or interspersed white fibers -- that when he is viewed in profile, the light almost disappears into his fiber like a black hole. This isn't surprising with a lineage that includes notable black sires like Othello, recently deceased, and Snowmass Nova's Dark Quest. With his distinctive head and leg coverage, along with his inky black fiber, many stop and stare at Secret in the paddock or the ring. Though these traits are worthy of comment, touching his fiber makes you understand just how much this male has to offer. The extreme density, bright shine, bundled crimp, lingering fineness, and soft handle of his fleece are traits that you want to add or amplify in your breeding program! We are offering a special for him in conjunction with our submission to the (April 2012) A-OK Blastoff Herdsire Showcase -- for this same price we will allow a limited number of breedings at 60 days stay, INCLUDING an ultrasound, AND the transportation exam & CVI for your female before she leaves our farm. After the A-OK Showcase is over, this special may close, so contact us now to make your reservation!

His posture, personality, exuberant crimp, fleece characteristics and outstanding conformation were exactly aligned with what we had defined as being core elements to our program.
