Welcome to Woolgate Farm
Woolgate Farm is a small hobby farm located in the beautiful hills and valleys of the Finger Lakes region of New York State. Our main focus is on building our flock of Valais Blacknose Sheep, the breed that has been dubbed the friendliest and cutest sheep in the world! Valais Blacknose Sheep originate from the Valais region of Switzerland. For many years, there were no Valais sheep in the United States. In the last couple of years, farmers have been able to import pure Valais semen and do AI with foundation ewes, thus resulting in the beginning of the breed up program in the US! Woolgate Farm is honored to be a part of this movement and thrilled with the Valais percentage sheep that we have on our farm. We are a member of the Valais Blacknose Sheep Society. We do not currently have any 100% Valais but we do have some 50% and 75% (F1 and F2) and they truly are the friendliest sheep! We continue to work on achieving higher percentages of Valais Blacknose sheep but it is a time consuming and costly endeavor so it is slow going at times. Woolgate Farm chose to use Romney sheep as our foundation ewes and we have been very happy with that choice. We would love to help you bring these sheep to your own farm!
