Welcome to Difficult Creek Farms

Our farm name, Difficult Creek Farms, is deeply rooted in the land itself. It comes from the creek that runs through our property—an essential feature of our newest location and a nod to the path we’ve taken to get here.

Not only is the name of the creek “Difficult”—getting here wasn’t exactly easy either. And truthfully, some days it’s still a challenge. When we expanded from our original home in Lake Helen, Florida, to our farm in Scottsville, Kentucky, one thing became clear: we needed fresh, flowing water to support our vision for sustainable, animal-first farming.

That’s why this winding little creek—quirky name and all—means so much to us. It provides clean, natural hydration for our animals and nourishes the pastures they graze. The journey to get here wasn’t always smooth, but having Difficult flowing through the heart of our farm is a daily reminder that the most meaningful things in life are rarely the easiest—and always worth it.

We have expanded from hobby horses and angus breeding to adding micro and mini highland cattle and valais blacknose sheep.
It's a family effort and we all have story to share that explains our diverse choices of animals on the farm!

Summer:
What began as a simple suggestion—to add a couple of sheep to help keep the grass trimmed on our hillsides—quickly blossomed into a full-blown love affair with Valais Blacknose sheep. With their irresistibly sweet dispositions, they’re more like puppies than livestock. They love to cuddle, play, and follow us around the property, instantly winning over our hearts and becoming cherished members of our family.

Kyle:
While he continues to raise Angus cattle as part of his retirement dream, he's had to adapt to a very different kind of farm life. Once steeped in the traditional rhythms of dairy and beef farming, he now finds himself surrounded by fluffy, cuddly creatures. Though he often shakes his head at this new version of “farming,” he can’t help but smile—and maybe even enjoy it more than he lets on.

Kylie:
From the age of six, Kylie knew exactly what she wanted to be when she grew up: a cow farmer. Raised in the heart of the beef cattle industry, her love for cows was deep-rooted—but there was always one part she couldn’t reconcile: the day her beloved animals became “beef.” Determined to find a different path, she’s now making her dream come true—surrounded by her favorite animals, not for profit, but for companionship.
