FarmWelcome!

Welcome to Alpacas of the Heartland LLC

We are located in the beautiful hills of Fort Calhoun, Nebraska on 13 acres of mixed grassland and woods. We have a "log style house" overlooking our log style barn in a peaceful rural setting. Every morning we are blessed with being able to watch the sunrise over our alpacas.

We saw our first Alpaca in July 2007. We were able to feel how soft the fiber was on this beautiful, gentle animal and immediately fell in love - we even thought it was going to give us a kiss! We spent the following weekend doing research on the internet, and came to the conclusion that this was something we both wanted to pursue. Further research, visiting a number of alpaca farms, attending seminars, and alpaca shows only reinforced our belief that this business venture was going to be less stressful, fun, profitable, and bring us closer together. We purchased our first bred alpaca just 4 months after our initial alpaca contact. Our research supported the decision to acquire only the highest quality females which had been bred to top quality studs, and rebreed the females to other top quality studs as we expand our foundation herd. We have selected our stock from across the United States.

Our professional backgrounds are hospital pharmacy, and in construction, as a project manager. Our backgrounds have been beneficial in the design and layout of our facilities, as well as in preparation for the care of our animals. We added Sheri's Alpaca Boutique fall 2012. Classes began being offered in January 2013. We offer a few classes a year, generally in the winter season.

Due to the Washington County Planning Board’s decision on October 4th 2018, we can no longer sell out of our boutique. Starting in 2019, we will only be able host visits for a fee seasonally. Our seasonal hours will be September, October, November. These visits will be by appointment only as the owners have to work around their full time job commitments outside of the alpaca business.

We will continue to offer visits by donation (outside of the seasonal time frame) on a limited basis based on our availability. Please follow Alpacas of the Heartland on Facebook and watch for posts that will announce date and times of availability, dates will also be listed on this website under the MORE INFORMATION Tab, or you can text Sheri to check for availability (402-669-6979) Thank you for your support.

Please give us a call if you are interested in joining the wonderful world of alpacas. We will help you get your start with choosing a few good alpacas for your farm. Take some time to come out, relax, and see what the alpaca lifestyle is all about.. Please call for an appointment 402-669-6979.

Farm Terms & Financing

- Minimum downpayment of 10%.
- No interest if alpaca is paid off within one year of purchase.
- Other financing terms can be negotiated.

Visits to the Farm

WE HAVE STARTED SPRING VISITS FOR 2026!

This information will be in the MORE INFO TAB. Once at this tab go to Farm Visits to view our availability.

Each month, after I get my pharmacy schedule, I will determine when I can offer visits. I will then post my availability for the month..I can only post information for a 4 week time period at a time. Sorry for any inconvenience. For those that plan ahead, you are welcome to contact me and I might have an idea before I post it, bit I will not know months in advance due to the changing nature of the job.

This is a working ranch and our home with rugged terrain. Please keep this in mind when you are planning your visit. There are two to three flights of stone/railroad ties steps to navigate to get down to the alpacas. Alternate arrangements can be made in the fall for visits or for our whine night if we are aware ahead of time.

Our official times for visits per Washington county are September, October, and November, but we have a few other times for our friends to come out and visit! Please see dates and contact us to a visit. Instructions for how to sign up will be included in the list of availability. Thank YOU!

Please keep in mind that I am a hospital pharmacist and availability is around my pharmacy schedule and alpaca chores. No more than one visit a week will be offered. Thank you for your understanding . Sheri Jacoby
