Julie Roy
After attaining a Business Coaching Certification, Julie has coached alpaca owners since 2004. Then, after raising show-quality alpacas in southern California for 13 years, Julie and her husband retired from day-to-day alpaca farming in 2017 to run an Airbnb in Idyllwild, California.
When the Covid-19 pandemic began in March 2020, Julie started researching new methods to turn around the struggle of inconsistent and unreliable income that so many farms were experiencing. Since she survived and then thrived in the economic downturn of 2008–2010, she has a hopeful perspective on the current financial situation for alpaca owners.
Julie has been called a "Trailblazer" in alpaca business education because she’s committed to making a positive difference in the alpaca industry. She believes that any farm, regardless of herd size, can quickly escape an income rollercoaster and build its profitability.
Julie now hosts free monthly educational webinars, delivers group programs designed to "Increase Your Income Dramatically," and provides private sessions to help alpaca owners get their heads around their marketing and sales.
Julie is also the author of numerous eBooks. Every person in the seminar will receive a free download copy of her latest books:
- Why Customers Don’t Buy from You and How to Change It!
- Three Myths That Keep Alpaca Owners Struggling to Make a Steady Profit
You can contact Julie Roy at [email protected] or 858-361-6321.
SYMPOSIUM TOPIC:
Have Your Alpacas Pay for Themselves... Herd Size Doesn’t Matter!
Is your alpaca business prospering, or are you just barely getting by? If you are struggling or feeling added stress, you are not alone. If you are thriving, congratulations! However, do you feel there’s a gap between where your business stands financially and where you’d like to be?
In my experience, every herd can pay for themselves monthly with creative income-producing ideas.
This seminar will explore the five different categories that are available to every alpaca owner. By the end of the talk, you will discover multiple ways to close the gap to having your herd pay for itself because herd size doesn’t matter; and you can choose the best avenues for your situation.

Karen Kelly
Karen began her love affair with alpacas in 2001. She started Arapaho Rose Alpacas, with a small herd of 4 alpacas but soon her herd grew to 80. Her herd now hovers around 45 alpacas. About 10 years ago she started participating in National Alpaca Farm Days. That led to farm tours and agritourism. There is a boutique on the ranch with alpaca and alpaca themed products. She hosts various classes in fiber preparation, spinning, weaving and needle felting. The farm is open for two annual public events each year each bringing hundreds of visitors. Farm tours are available by appointment.
