    Your key to healthy production!

    MaRS Lemuria

Huacaya, Female, Proven | Medium Fawn

    AOA# 31506571   D.O.B. 6/20/2008, 1/2 Peruvian, 1/2 Bolivian

    Sire:
    Bold Ruler
    | AOA# 821648  | White, Beige  |
Bold Ruler has extreme coverage with bold crimp up his neck and down his legs! He has consistently shorn 12 to 13 pounds of fleece annually, total fleece weight for 2009 was 13.4! Ruler has terrific staple length and density. His bone structure is substantial, teeth are perfect, and conformation is great. Bold Ruler is just what his name suggests....BOLD!

He has nearly 20 cria on the ground and they are quite impressive! His progeny are solid with heavy bone and structure. The fleece on his cria shows strong character and density. And the shine on the fleece makes you want to put on shades! Don't be afraid to breed Bold to your colored females, he's allowing most of the color of the dam to come through. His cria have ranged in color from white to brown, and even a few that are categorized in rose gray when shown. He's registered as white but I would call him beige with even a tint of light fawn at the crown of his head.

The results of his 2010 fleece sort are in! Bold Ruler came in at a grade 3 with micron range of 23 to 26 at 10 years of age! Remarks from the sorter, "very dense, bright white fleece". 8 out of 10 for brightness and density.

Bold Ruler now resides on another ranch but Alpacas from MaRS has retain breedings through Oct 2012. Breedings would need to be arranged as a drive by or we can have Bold Ruler available at our place with plenty of advance notice. We have some of his offspring and would be more than happy to provide fleece samples and additional information.

The breeding fee listed is for a drive by breeding. If you wish for your female to stay for pregnancy confirmation, regular agistment fees will apply.

    Dam:
    MaRS Cassini
    | AOA# 820255  | Medium Fawn  |
How many females can you say produce show quality cria year after year? Cassini was one of those females! Male or female, her offspring are sold year after year. She was a beautiful fawn with a wonderful soft handle, consistent fleece character, and full coverage. Cassini had a gentle disposition and has always been easy to work with. She has correct conformation and solid bone structure. Cassini's fleece is held it's fineness with age, something we all strive for.

Cassini had proven herself to be a wonderful mother with plenty of milk for her cria, they gained an average of a 1/2 pound a day for the first couple of months. Her crias have validated what we are trying to achieve with our breeding program. She consistently produced cria of high quality, all that have been shown were multiple award winners!

Sadly Cassini passed away early in 2016, just short of her 16th birthday. Her death left a big void in our herd and in our hearts.

Mars Factoid! Cassini is a 415km crater named in 1973 after the Italian astronomer, Giovanni Cassini. (1625-1712)

    Description

We love to cross Peruvian/Accoyo bloodlines with Bolivians, the results are consistently amazing! MaRS Lemuria is the result of one such breeding and it shows. The first thing you notice about Lemuria is her presence, she certainly has that "look at me" quality about her.

Lemuria has a solid build and could most certainly be categorized as an easy keeper. Her fleece production is impressive, one of the densest on the farm. The character of her fleece holds it's consistency across the blanket area, 5 to 6 crimps per inch. She seems to have settled in the 24 to 25 AFD range in adulthood, I would bet that if she wasn't such an "easy keeper" it may be a few points lower.

Her first cria was a beige male in July 2012 during a thunderstorm. The birth was extremely fast with no complications. Lemuria has proven herself to be a great mother and will be a terrific production female for years to come. Here's a video of the 2012 cria at 3 hours old.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clr7MSo89rs&feature=youtu.be

Lemuria did it again in January 2014 when she delivered another strong, healthy cria delivered in ease! This time it's a bright white female with solid structure and substantial density and character to her fleece. We had hoped to see some spots given the fact that her sire is an appy, but we'll take her! This year's shearer commented that her cria, Claritas, has the brightest, whitest fleece he has seen while shearing, quite the compliment coming from someone who's seen many! We plan to retain Claritas for our foundation herd.

Lemuria's dam, Mars Cassini, is one of our best production females. Cassini has thrown award winning cria year after year. Cassini brings the well known Bolivian line of Black Thunder to Lemuria. Her sire, Bold Ruler, was a son of Accoyo Plantel and an Alianza dam. Plantel had been standing stud at Magical Farms for years and I had always dreamed of having a piece of his genetics. Bold Ruler was a, dare I say it, Bold male, with significant size and commanding presence. His yearly fleece weight is impressive at 12 to 13 pounds.

Lemuria is sold with all standard reproductive guarantees and a breeding to any of the Alpacas from MaRS herdsires.
