This guy has a great head, nice build, and an easy-going disposition. His sire's pedigree is swimming in Snowmass genetics. Google Peruvian Casanova who was a medium rose grey champion that was futurity herdsire of the year in 2003 and then in 2005. Then his son Nova took dark herdsire of the year and sold later for over $300,000! Males by his grandsire, Snowmass Nova, sold for the highest prices at the West Penn Auction in 2017. Not to mention his other grand sire Legacy... However, since I did mention Legacy, though he has passed, he is still listed on Crescent Moon's website for reference because of his monumental impact to their breeding program. Along with the fact he sold for a world record price that still stands today. Yes a half share for $750,000 equates to first million dollar alpaca.
His dam, is bay black, with lineage of a few medium rose grey along with true black color. Her sire, Cherry Garcia took a first and a couple 2nds as Get of Sire.
It is obvious looking at him that he comes from fantastic lineage and exhibits lasting fineness. Don't you just love it at shearing time when you get down close to see what's underneath and you see nice bright black fleece that feels soft. His histogram at almost 7 years of age shows reasonable lasting fineness and uniformity - really 26 and 5.8 SD in black is nothing to feel bad about. In his youth he was 21 AFD. We have some of his yarn that is lovely and sold his fleece from last year and were pleasantly surprised that it was still bright with a nice hand.
His first cria was a beautiful bright brown with black points from a beige dam. He has also had a true black male from a female that delivered very prematurely, yet he was straight and sturdy. Weighing only 9 pounds, he amazed us all with his strength and tenacity. Something about this boy and his bright fleece with attitude is one to watch.
He is now residing in Mariposa, California but could be available for breeding or sale if you are interested, contact us.
