Royal Highlander, aka "Scottie," is turning into a very handsome alpaca with a very sweet, gentle personality. He has a very cute face with eyes that just melt you when you look at him. And, when he was little, he loved to give Eskimo kisses!
He was a big boy when he was born at 20 lbs with nice, solid bone and bright brown fleece. As he was growing, his fleece actually turned black after he was just a few weeks old, but later on, it started coming in brown again. It seems to be staying at the dark brown color. Looking at his fleece at shearing time, it was like he had striping! At just 7 1/2 mos of age, his fleece was a solid 5-inch staple length! And, boy, when he was shorn in April 2011, were we ever thrilled to see his spot-on conformation and those sturdy, straight legs! He is just a very handsome boy and you can't take your eyes off him.
Although he has many great features with superb conformation, nice solid bone, a pleasing head, great temperament and hails from some of the country's most well-reknowned bloodlines, as we've watched his second fleece come in, it's not showing the consistency, character and density we'd like to see.
Since we wouldn't use him in our breeding program for that reason, we are deciding to sell him as a companion, pet quality male. He would make an excellent 4H prospect and he is great buddies with our other companion male for sale, Rainmaker, also listed on our site. If purchased as a pair, we would sell both for just $500!!
