Welcome to our farm!
We're glad that you found us on Openherd. Please take a look at our sales lists and enjoy learning more about our farm. We welcome your inquiries and questions!
It all started with a little house on a little farm in a little town in southern Maryland that we were going to call home with our four Arabian horses, five cats, two dogs and a couple of project cars. We soon became a little family in the little house on the little farm in the little town in southern Maryland.
As time marched on, three of our Arabs were getting up in age and as the inevitable tends to occur, we had to say goodbye to them.
I found alpacas quite by accident in early 2008 as I was looking for yarn on the internet following through on a new year resolution to learn to knit. I couldn’t get enough of them. I was clicking on website after website, photo after photo, reading and learning about them. Then I introduced them to my mom who also completely fell in love with them too. And then it happened….. we purchased a little herd of three very well bred females….two huacaya and one suri. We were now alpaca ranchers!!
We began setting up the farm to accommodate the girls, turned the small horse run-in into the “alpaca shack”, installed wire fencing and more gates and set the date to pick up the girls and bring them home.
Even though I read a lot of information about how to care for alpacas, it just did not replace the hands-on experience I wanted and needed. We were very blessed to be introduced to another breeder who not only took me under her wing and has become a fabulous friend. Patty has taught me so much about these animals, how to care for them, give them shots, and listened tirelessly to my questions and ideas. We have attended a seminars together and we’ve even sponsored a Camelid Dynamics weekend together for ourselves and other owners/breeders. Thank you Patty for your friendship!!!
Now that we have had our alpacas for a few years now, our little herd is growing on our little farm in a little town of southern Maryland.
We would love to share our alpacas with you too. Please call us ahead of time so that we can plan time for your visit. Thank you for reading about our little alpaca farm.
