Chagrin Valley Alpacas started in 1991 with the purchase of 4 huacaya alpacas. Additional females were hand selected from each of the Peruvian Importations, creating a herd over 45 alpacas with excellent fiber and conformational quality. Partners with Stachowski Alpacas, the herd is maintained in Mantua at the main facility. (Hint - the alpacas with small blue ear tags are Mary's.) And, yes, our ARI herd ID is "Royal".
While the herd is primarily white, fawn and grey, you will find an occasional true black. Overall my breeding goal is to maintain health and vigor, adding type, proportion and balance with superior fiber fineness expressed in a high frequency crimp style.
Silent Legend has crossed very well with the Apollo (Royal Fawn) line that dominates this herd, resulting in outstanding cria for the 2016 show season. Many of the foundation females have been bred to Silent Legend and Starz Legend for cria in 2016!
