Elite Foundation Dam | Danko Daughter | Champion Producer
Eponine was an exceptional foundation female whose impact on our breeding program is undeniable. Sired by the legendary silver grey herdsire Danko—known for producing champions across all colors, especially grey and black—Eponine carried forward a pedigree rooted in consistency, strength, and elite production.
Danko’s influence is well documented, having sired AOBA Champions year after year since 1999 and producing top-selling alpacas at major auctions. Eponine inherited his strong bone structure, extensive fiber coverage, and the ability to pass on uniform, high-quality fleece traits.
Eponine’s own fiber statistics reflected her quality, with her 2005 histogram showing:
MC: 22.8 | SD: 4.6 | CV: 20.2 | CF: 94.7
Her true legacy, however, is defined by her extraordinary production record. She consistently produced high-quality offspring across a range of top sires:
2006: Pebbles (Medium Fawn Female) – exceptional crimp and density, later consigned to a high-end auction
2007: Nova son (sired by Snowmass Nova) – sold as a herdsire
2008: Zodiac’s Black Widow (sired by Oro Negro) – Champion
2009: Sabine (sired by Oro Negro) – Champion
2010: Enlightenment’s Enrique (sired by Snowmass Enlightenment) – grey male and future herdsire
2012: Achilles (sired by Oro Negro) – dark silver grey male, Champion
Notably, every cria from her repeated breedings to Oro Negro went on to achieve Champion status—an incredible testament to her consistency as a producer.
Eponine was later bred to our multi-champion male Solariego, continuing her legacy of pairing with elite sires.
Though Eponine has passed, her influence remains strong. Many of her offspring continue to contribute to breeding programs, carrying forward her elite genetics, fleece quality, and structural integrity.
Eponine stands as a cornerstone dam—one whose legacy of champions and production excellence will continue for generations.
