Tierra's Mairzy

Huacaya, Female, Unproven | Beige

AOA# 32547382   D.O.B. 12/8/2016, 7/8 Peruvian, 1/8 Chilean

Sire:
CCNF Invictus
| AOA# 32004809  | Beige
Admittedly, when we bred Invictus’ dam Opal with his sire, Precocious, we were hoping for something a little darker than beige. Though Precocious is a white Futurity Champion he comes from a paternal line (Jeremiah/Jericho) just as renowned for it’s colored genetics as its light, so crossing him with Opal — who is black and likewise has not one but two of those nifty Futurity trophies of her own — wasn’t really over-reaching that much. So while we were perhaps put off a bit by the lack of darker fleece color in their resulting young boy, Invictus also showed that he had IT almost immediately.

So what do we see in Invictus that makes him stand out? Simply put, he hits that nexus of fleece density and fineness, carrying his fleece uniformity way down into his lower belly and legs. On top of displaying the fleece characteristics of an elite light colored animal, let’s also not forget that he comes from dark colored genetics and that may, in the end, really be the clincher. Then combine that with his undeniable presence when you walk into the barn or out into his feed group’s paddock on the farm. He is simply one of those alpacas that makes people stand up and notice him. We often ask ourselves a very simple question when rating potential Herdsires: do we look at a given male and say “we’d like to have 10 more of those standing in our pasture?” The answer in this case is an unequivocal, yes.

2013 was quite a year for our now three year old Herdsire! Along with winning the Light Huacaya Male Championship at the 2013 AOBA National Fleece Show, Invictus also became a proven Herdsire, having had several crias born throughout this past summer. Perhaps more importantly, he has thrown color out of virtually every colored female he was bred to. In one case, he even sired a brown female out of a fawn dam. You can be sure that that got our attention in a hurry. So: a proven Herdsire with an elite light colored fleece that is capable of throwing colored offspring. We think

Dam:
TP Poseidon's Motivator's Moonshine
| AOA# 32757705  | White
TP Poseidon's Motivator's Moonshine just gets better every time I look at her. She has correct conformation and bite. Her fleece is luminously bright and very soft with a wonderful handle. She has a nice, dense, fine fleece. The character of her fleece is developing well with nice, long, staples full of crimp.

She is a Matrix grand daughter and a daughter of our 29X Champion TP Poseidon's Motivator. She is developing into a beautiful female.

Her EPD's and skin biopsy results are excellent.

Her 15x scan shows that her normal typical fiber clusters are uniform in shape and placement within her connective tissue. Her true density based on sample shrinkage is 92.92 follicles SQ MM of skin. 20 typical fiber clusters show an average S/P of 12.8 to 1. Note the 8 fiber clusters on her S/P scan show an average of 12.0 to 1. Moonshine shows level 3 of 4 gland presence with a large percentage of round secondary fibers which should relate to enhanced brightness of fiber. 35% of her secondary fibers show medullation. 100 secondary fibers average 19.3 microns and 50 primary fibers average 24.7 microns for a spread of only 5.4 microns. The above stats figure an AFD of 19.71 microns. Wow! Strong!

Moonshine has a beautiful Snowmass Elite Legend son at her side.

Description

Mairzy is a pretty, spunky little female with and interesting pedigree rich in color. She is a great grandaughter of Snowmass Nova who is bay black, as is her grandmother, CCNF Opal.

I imagine that when she is old enough, she will be bred to color.
