    We've SPOTTED a new herdsire here at Elderwood Farms, and we are ecstatic to have him as part of our herd.

    Meet Excelsior's Patriotic Spirit, an awesome appaloosa! This male has it all - confirmation, fiber, and lineage.

    Spirit is the product of appaloosas and harlequins from both sides of his family tree.

    His sire, Windspun WSA Patriotic Gentleman, is an appaloosa as well. He's a blue ribbon winning male that sports a beautiful fleece and strong confirmation. Patriotic Gentleman's sire is the multi-champion Hobby Horse Farm Great Expecations making his grandsire the well-known SA Peruvian Black Epic.

    Spirit's dam, Excelsior's High Voltage Tazer, has an equally impressive background. She's the harlequin daughter of a very well-known appaloosa - NWA/Hearsum Paulo. Her dam is actually the full sister to our herdsire Mr. Butterscotch, a beautiful appaloosa harlequin named Candlelight's Cookies and Cream. Both Butterscotch and Cookie are My Peruvian Zephyus offspring.

    Spirit has proven to pass on his phenomenal fleece qualities to his offspring. We are so excited to have this guy as a herdsire at Elderwood Farms!

    Black Velvet is a beautiful, bay black female who still has a very soft, extremely dense fleece at the age of 14. She has a stout frame and perfect confirmation. Not to mention, her staple length is still amazing!

    She is a 3x Champion and has produced many multi-champion offspring including a 6x Color Champion, Challenger's Boomer.

    Black Velvet has a strong lineage behind her. She is sired by Royal Fawn, a full Accoyo male known for passing on fine qualities to his offspring.

    He's not covered in the spots that we were hoping for, but he got everything else! This guy is covered in soft, dense, bright fawn fiber. He sports a fleece with a high frequency crimp. He will be a great addition to any spotted program and will definitely be part of our show string if he doesn't sell.

Contracts are typically initiated with 25% down and monthly payments divided out over 12 months; however, we are flexible and open to terms that may better suit your needs. Package and cash discounts are offered under certain conditions. Most purchases come with 60 days free board or free board until weaning. Nationwide, affordable transporters come by the farm several times a year. We can also meet at shows or along the way.
