Unrivaled Density! 16 X Champion, RR Gun's A'Blazin'
At one of our favorite shows, The California Classic Alpaca Round Up in 2016 - Results for Blaze and his offspring were outstanding.
First his son UINTA GUN'S A FLAMIN won 1st in the Walking Fleece class, then 1st in the male yearling halter division, then Color Champion in the male fawn group.
Then was part of the winning Get of Sire class. While Blaze's son RR LEGATO GRIGIO's offspring took 2nd in get of sire out of 7 sires that were represented.
Next, 3 Blaze yearling daughters placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in an extremely competitive class and went on to take Color Champion and Reserve Color Champion for the yearling girls.
In Breeder's Best 3 winning group - There was a Blaze daughter and a Blaze granddaughter.
In the Grey division, A Blaze granddaughter took Color Champion and a Blaze Grandson took Reserve Champion.
Believe it or not this list goes on, but I think you get the picture.
At birth Julie Rosenfeld said that "he was without question the best fleeced alpaca that we had seen in our herd". He went on to have a brilliant show career and start his breeding career at only 23 months of age.
He was biopsied and follicle tested by Ian Watt and as of July 2010, is the densest non white alpaca
ever tested by or either through him or Jim Watt's lab in Australia, of any in the world.
Although we rely heavily on biopsies for density, we put equal importance on histograms and especially "hand and eye", none of which Blaze has disappointed us with.
More importantly, his production has been nothing less than outstanding having produced champions in grey, black, brown and fawn.
Have a look at the data on the his page on the Renaissance Ridge website...the remarkable thing in our breeding scheme is not only that he has consistently and dramatically improved fiber density over the dams, many of whose data can be linked to, but that density has been accompanied by an across the board improvement the differential in micron between primary and secondary fiber, and an excellent SD in each fiber population.
Likewise the progeny histograms support the improvement in fineness, and uniformity.
Blaze has been a powerful influence in our breeding program.
