PBR Eclipse’s Island Girl carries a dual-line genetic engine built from the deep-color strength of Snowmass Hemingway XX and the pigment-instability/pattern-permissive influence of Black Epic, creating a foundation that reliably produces harlequin and appaloosa offspring even though she herself expresses a light phenotype. Her sire, R Creek’s Legendary Eclipse, contributes true-black Snowmass genetics—not pattern genetics, but powerful eumelanin depth, uniformity, and the ability to anchor dark zones in patterned crias. Her dam, NPA Peruvian Senja, adds medium fawn and brown Peruvian color genetics, including dilution-responsive modifiers that allow pattern alleles from the sire to express more dramatically. Island Girl’s own phenotype—white to light fawn—reflects a masked, non-patterned genotype, but her production record proves she carries pattern-permissive modifiers that amplify any harlequin/appaloosa allele introduced through the sire. His genotype reflects the interaction of Peruvian Divine Love/Hannahruh–derived dilution mechanisms, which influence melanocyte activity and pigment stability, with eumelanin-dominant alleles inherited from a dam line expressing light brown, medium brown, and true black phenotypes. This combination produces a male whose outward coloration does not fully reveal the underlying pattern-permissive and pattern-enabling loci he carries. The presence of appaloosa-related ancestry contributes alleles associated with localized melanocyte suppression, mosaic pigment distribution, and dilution-driven harlequin expression, enabling him to transmit pattern even when bred to phenotypically solid females.
