The end of an era.....

We sadly said Good-bye to our beautiful Maxx after he suffered a seizure and stroke on February 5, 2023. Although his time with us was cut short, we are so grateful for his presence on our farm. He truly was one in a million! Personality, presence and a genuine joy to be with! Such a special boy....we will not forget you!!!

Florentina is a stunning addition to our herd at Honey Maple Farms!! This lovely girl conforms nicely, has beautiful luster and great handle to her fleece. She is a rich maroon color with one white stocking and just gorgeous in the sunlight! We couldn't get over the luster on Florentina when she arrived!

Check out her daughter, Kimberxlite by Maxx Macgyver on our page. Florentina passed on that same gorgeous color to her daughter!

Take a peek at Florentina's pedigree...she comes from stellar bloodlines! From her sire, Montoya of PVA, to Diamonte, Kobe, and Mahogany Prince on both sides (wonder where she got THAT color!!), she is a quality female who should add some rich color to our herd as we continue to diversify our genetics! Can't wait!!

**FEBRUARY 2024 UPDATE**

Florentina has been on the back burner, so to speak, for the past couple years, so we are making big plans for her in 2024!! She will be bred to our new herd sire, Storm Warning, and we are hoping for grey out of this one!! Both Flora and Storm have that dark mahogany fleece, which is to die for! Storm has great conformation and is still rocking some awesome fleece at 13 years old.

**DESCRIPTION BY PREVIOUS OWNER**

RKR's LITTLE ABE is out of Medium Silver Grey My Sunshine Sally and multi-champion classic Medium Silver Grey WLK Silver Threads. Sally is the only Grey offspring out of MacGyver's Armed & Dangerous. Silver Threads has passed away. He was well known for consistently producing grey when bred to grey. Silver Threads was full Peruvian and had a pedigree with every alpaca on it being either rose grey or silver grey. Overall, you will find at least one grey Suri in each of the 4 previous generations of Abe’s pedigree making him a 5th generation grey male.

Abe has wonderful confirmation and a dense, lustrous, silver-grey blanket. The locks are more of an open lock structure that hand spinners love, it is showing great staple length growth, and the fiber has a wonderful cool handle to it. At 15 months of age a quick test was done on his fleece and came back with an AFD of 21.9 microns and a SD of 5.4. A sample was sent in for a full fiber test from his first shearing at age 2 and the histogram results were good. An average fiber diameter of 23.1 microns with a standard deviation of 5.3 microns. Another fleece sample was submitted at age 3 and Abe is maintaining his fineness pretty well. The results on that histogram were slightly better with an AFD of 22.9 microns and a SD of 5.1.

Description

This Maxx MacGyver daughter is an excellent addition to our herd at Honey Maple Farms! She has great conformation and a stellar pedigree! Kimberxlite is a beautiful maroon color with great luster. Kimber just shines--even in the light of the barn! She is a great mother and has a pleasant personality.

Her dam, Florentina, has that same beautiful coloring and a remarkably strong pedigree, which includes the likes of Montoya, Mahogany Prince, Diamonte and Kobe ALL from the PVA breeding program. Match those genetics with Maxx and Macgyver, Bruxo and Rufino, and you have a female with ENORMOUS color potential! While we did not originally intend to breed for color, we are falling in love with the beautiful, deep maroon females we have acquired!

Kimberxlite delivered a gorgeous fawn female cria on July 8, 2021, sired by our Kahuna's Mondavi. We are so excited for this little one!! This cria is already exhibiting long, draping locks of fleece that we can attribute to grand-daddy, Maxx, and she has the density of her sire, Mondavi. We have decided to cross our Maxx MacGyver daughter with Mystic of Bijou for a chance at some dark offspring for Mystic in 2024. He should add the density to Kimberxlite that will kick her crias up a notch! Kimberxlite has beautiful luster and a dark pedigree, so this is going to be fun!!
