Chi is an Appaloosa even though you can barely see her spots when she is in full fleece. The magic happens at shearing time when her spots are revealed.

Appaloosa Definition:
Appaloosa alpacas have at least 6 spots in the blanket area which should be at least two colours apart on the colour chart from the base colour.

"Chizuki Flower Moon", this little girl just had to have an extra special name to represent the day of her birth, May 15, 2022 was the Super Flower Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse. Chizuki is Japanese for Blood Moon and Flower Moon is the name of the full moon in May. We call her "Chi" for short. Chi is also a full-sibling to our Boosha Laveau.

Chi is a well proportioned, strong boned female, with a square frame, correct bite and has excellent coverage. She does not have a solid blanket , her base color is beige and is developing medium fawn colored spotting. At the time of her first shearing she only had 1 spot on her hip. Her second shearing revealed more spots and a type of marbling. I am looking forward to her next shearing to see if there will be any changes. Shearing day 2025 was a big surprise, Chi had even more spots that were darker and bigger. She also has developed more marbling on her left side. You can see the difference in the pictures. Shearing day 2026 revealed even more darker spots.

Dam Cochiti's Sasha - In 1 year of growth this girl had a blanket weight of 6.65 pounds and a total shear weight of 12.15 pounds at 11 years of age in 2020. In 2021 at the age of 12 years old, with shorter staple length and only 11 months of growth she still produced a blanket weight of 5.45 pounds and a total shear weight of 10.10 pounds. That is extreme density for a girl of her age.
