All of the traits that we breed for come together in Defiance – impeccable fineness, uniformity, brightness, density and high curvature in a merino-style fleece. His exquisite fleece is carried on a strong frame with impressive substance of bone. This is one beautiful male!

Defiance’s genetics combine the lasting fineness found in the Hemingway and Legacy lines with the low medullation for which the Elite line is particularly well known. These advanced heritable characteristics are expressed in Defiance’s superior fleece that hardly changes from one year to the next.

At seven years of age, Defiance’s 2016 histogram was: AFD 18.7; SD 3.1; CV 16.5; %>30 0.3 and MC 69.4. Defiance is in the top 1% of EPDs for five traits: AFD, SDAFD, SF, %>30 and MC.

He has won numerous awards and championships, including the 2013 and 2014 IAO Supreme Champion male.

Description

We are beyond excited to add this stunning boy to our herdsire line up. Hero has extremely beautiful fleece that carries highly advanced character, staple formation, fineness, uniformity of micron, and density. This male has a terrific phenotype and is stocky and compact. Great bone and perfect bite.
At age 5, Hero was still mantaining an AFD of 22.7 microns, SD 3.6 microns and COV 15.8%. Hero finished up his show career with 4 championships, 4 Best Bred & Own and 1 Judges Choice.
Hero has produces phenomenal award winning crias for Thordarson Farms and 5S alpacas, and now is our turn to see what he can do for our breeding program. Hero has been bred to females of a variety of colors and it seems that he is allowing the dam to push color through while also substantially improving the fleece quality and uniformity across the blanket. He is stamping out a gorgeous phenotype and stunning head on every single cria that has hit the ground!. All of these characteristics plus a wonderful personality makes him a versatile standout Herdsire.
