RR Guns of Navarone

Huacaya, Herdsire (Male), Unproven | Medium Rose Grey

AOA# 31620246   D.O.B. 6/13/2010

Sire:
Aussie Guns-n-Roses
| AOA# 30036107  | Medium Rose Grey  |
GnR is now owned by Fun in the Country Alpacas in Michigan. He remains on our "Hall of Fame" as herdsire emeritus, for all that he has contributed!

Deciding which herdsire to use in your breeding program? Here's what we do..

Pedigree: An excellent indicator of a male's EBV (estimated breeding value). We want lines with established pre-potency that have demonstrated sustained fineness through at least 4-5 years. Click on GnR's ARI cert icon above.

Conformation: It has to be a given, if it's not, the search stops here. We like a male that is well proportioned, but compact. We want good bite and head. Solid bone and strong fore and hindquarters. We prefer good sized testicles and want to see him breeding before age 2 and maintaining a vigorous libido thereafter...but an even non aggressive temperament. GnR is our poster boy for all of the above.

Fiber: Hand and uniformity: That's easy! Just put it against your cheek.A grid sample can be found by going to our website...he's consistant across a broad blanket top to belly, brisket to tail.

Fineness: It's not about 1st shear micron. What's the 4th shear like? Don't hide the SD and % over 30 micron...that's what the industry is crying for. And while your at it, check out the difference between the micron in primary and secondary fibers and their respective SDs (on skin biopsy stats).

Brightness: GnR's fiber glows...a quality not lost on every one of his offspring.

Density: Fiber doesn't have to "feel" dense...more often than not that's a sign of coarseness. Quite simply, GnR is the densest grey biopsied through Jim Watt's lab in Australia, and they've been doing it for over 20 years. If you click on the histogram icon, you will see his biopsy results. An explanation of those numbers can be found on our website.

Length: His fiber is ridiculously long. His 4th shear (at right) is only 315 days.

PATAGONIA'S SAKURA-SOLD!

Huacaya, Female, Proven, Light Rose Grey, Full Chilean
ARI# 30422971 | DOB: 6/29/2006
Sakura has been an outstanding foundation female, with fabulous mothering skills and puts tons of weight on her cria. She herself is sturdy, and maintains an excellent body score through lactation.

This is one "goose that lays golden eggs". Her last daughter, Francesca, just went to her first show and won Color Champion at 8 months of age. She is a stunner!

2014 brought Stella Di Platino, a gorgeous tux silver grey female.

For 2015 we elected to try her with RR Arturo . Pablo Picasso ...

Description

Aussie Guns n Roses' best rose grey son, whose biopsy results are better than his father's...

BIOPSY RESULTS ARE IN!!!

Density: 65.4/mm

Secondary:Primary fiber ratio: 12.1:1

In-skin mean primary fiber diameter: 24.2 µ Standard Deviation: 2.6 µ Range: 19.9 µ to 30.6 µ
In-skin mean secondary fiber diameter: 18.4 µ Standard Deviation: 2.6 µ Range: 11.9 µ to 26.7 µ

Comments:
Excellent density and S:P ratio is reflected in the very uniform primary and secondary fiber populations
and, by default, the fiber population differential of less than 6 microns, a rare number for rose grey sires.
Please note: the zero number on the histogram is an inadvertent double click when measuring and has been
taken into account when revising the minimum secondary fiber population number and SD.

Navarone is a striking solid rose grey male with the characteristic minimal tuxedo pattern of both his mom and dad. Mom is a Kaspa daughter and the 5th most ribboned female alpaca in the nation for 2008 and gave us our very special RR Rose Godiva in 2009. Except for the gender, these 2 cria look like they were clones of dad, Guns n Roses.
Sakura, Navarone's mom also has outstanding follicle density skin biopsy testing, through Ian Watt, and is one of the densest in our herd. She also has sustained fineness with her 4th shear yielding a histogram of 2010: 20.2/ 4.3/ 21.5/ CF 96.8%! Call us to discuss these results.
