Sire:
Thunder Moon Casper
| AOA# 836681 | White
|
Here is what Karil Gray has to say about Casper:
" CASPER'S PRODUCTION DEFINITELY TENDS TOWARD FEMALES, 78% FEMALES!!! (Sadly, the two males he produced were both lost at an early age -- both were born hale and hearty so both losses were chalked up to the 'difficult lessons' category.) His seven living offspring are all girls.
We expected Casper to throw color given his pedigree, and he usually does. When we think "typey," we think of him. He has beautiful conformation with a head that can't be beat. He loves the water in the hot summer, and when he gets wet, we can see even more of his stellar form as well as the crimp that extends to legs and tail.
Casper's leg coverage and fiber down between his toes sometimes gives the illusion that he is floating when he walks. His fleece is dense, which we might expect from a Maple Brook Fandango offspring, and incredibly crimpy. Oh, and did we mention that one daughter exhibited fibers in the 4 micron range? We really do believe his grandson, our Dimitri, is one of the finest."
Dam:
Grazing Hills Knightly's Guinevere
| AOA# 1193572 | Dark Brown
|
Here is what Karil Gray was to say about Guinevere:
" Guinevere delivered a gorgeous little dark brown female from Thunder Moon Casper in the fall of 2010. This little girl has fleece like a berber carpet with incredible rolling skin that extends from her neck into her body. Trying to shear the cria fleece was like driving over a very bumpy road. We can only imagine what her fleece will be as she matures. She is calm, curious and lovely like her dam.
Guinevere is a sweetheart; she is very unassuming and even has a soft hum. However, you never want to leave the gate unlatched with her around. She has been our "Houdini" girl since she was a cria. We would find her in places she shouldn't have been and wonder how she got there. Very smart with gorgeous dark brown eyes...who can resist?
Guin is not a large animal, (but we sheared 7.4 pounds of uniform brown fleece off her smallish frame this year!) and though her crias are on the small side at birth (13-14 pounds,) they catch up very quickly. She is great mother."
Description
**** SAVANNAH AND BACCUS GAVE US A BEAUTIFUL MAROON FEMALE, GEORGIA. AND AS ANTICIPATED SHE IS SUPER DENSE*****
Savannah may be the best kept secret on our farm. She is easily one of the densest (maybe even THE densest) female we own.
She's a FLEECE MONSTER. In 2015 she sheared 3.8# from the blanket and in 2016, she sheared 4#. In 2017, 3,5# and 3# in 2018. She isn't a large girl, weighing in at about 140#.
Although her fleeces is no longer fine, it still maintains good consistency, crimp and staple length.
This is no surprise... Savannah's pedigree includes some of the Peruvian heavy hitters ... Bueno, Fandango, Vengador, Caligula and Cahuide and many well known Chilean names as well.
This still young, proven, female has been criminally underutilized here... big shame on us. She's actually the very definition of a production female. She is an easy breeder, easy birther and is a wonderful mother with tons of milk.
Savannah maintains a perfect bite and has no conformational flaws. Although she is of shorter stature, she has good body capacity, is proportionate and her babies are of average size. She is a SUPER easy keeper and has never had a health issue.
Although she is registered as Dark Brown, Savannah is actually a maroon (and has thrown maroon when bred to black), with grey spot on her shoulder. Her darling, short eared, short muzzled face is covered with curls.
She is absolutely darling
Savannah's first breeding (which she chose herself :) to our Orlando's Tracker Cloud, produced a gorgeous MB male, Bean. He is also super dense and very soft. Bean was never registered because AOA couldn't verify his sire. Just one of those sad "kerfuffles." However, we KNOW that Dad is our Orlando's Tracker Cloud.
And, as noted in the beginning paragraph of this post, her second cria, Savannah's Georgia (get it? :-) is a beautiful maroon female, with soft crimpy fleece, with respectable placings at CABA, her first highly competitive show.
Savannah is just hitting her prime and is maintaining all of her rock solid, positive attributes.
