      Maelstrom is a CHAMPION, medium fawn 1/2 Accoyo bloodline herd sire with a strong track record of throwing color (88% of his 24 crias are fawn or darker) with excellent coverage and density, nice lock and luster, and correct conformation. Maelstrom won the 2000 AOBA Color and Age Championships as a yearling. Maelstrom was sold at the Private Collection Auction in 2001 for $50,000, only 2 weeks after the 9/11 tragedy.

      Maelstrom's sire, 4Peruvian Sargento, only had 4 cria before passing prematurely such that these strong genetics are uncommon and can provide diversity to your program. Maelstrom has incredible luster, especially at age 11 and beautiful coverage . . . he has so much leg fiber you can't even see his toes!

      Description

      Attitude is a beautiful 1/2 Accoyo male out of one of our top dams. He is beige in color, with a dark brown spot on his leg. That spot was the "kiss of death" in the show ring for a basically white animal. Attitude was smaller in stature and now a redundant male, so he was gelded and took on a new job for us. His fleece is still very nice and usable for yarns.

      So, what was Attitude's job? He was a key identifier of pregnant females that became open unexpectedly. Attitude was kept with our pregnant girls group, and he would mount them if they came open. We would see the ruffled and disrupted fiber, or even the behavior, and would know to check that female immediately. He has paid for himself numerous times by preventing lost time for females who lost their pregnancies. Attitude has also been used in groups of open females, and mom's and crias. He is very versatile! We have not put him with large groups of males as we found that his living with the females has caused the other intact males to pick on him, as he likely smells like the females.

      Attitude is a good worker, but is not particularly cuddly in nature. He is fine to work around, but does not like to be held and petted, so he is not a good PR animal. However, give him a job like I described, and he will perform. Attitude would make a good fiber and companion alpaca, too. Attitude has been free of any major health issues and will be a great companion for many years if properly fed, housed, and managed.
